Clifford Anderson in response to a call from his friends, announces himself a candidate for the seat made vacant by the death of Senator Benj. Hill. Work on the grand Sabbath school tabernacle fit Homersville’ Ga., was begun this week. Mr. R. B. Reppard, tbe great Sunday school man of Georgia, has donated tbe lumber. Bishop Robt. Paine, of the Metho dist Southern Episcopal church, died recently at his home in Aberdeen Mississippi. He has been in ill health for some time and been relieved of his official duties. The semi-monthly pay rolls of tbe Eagle and Phoenix factory of Colum bus Ga., is 15,000. The company pays out for. wages alono $400,000 per annum. Such institu tions as these do much toward build ing up a town. We commend the following terse paragraph to the members of the Leg islature, now about to assemble: No Legislator bas a rigbt to vote for a weak man for office when there are strong men offering for the place.
