Several articles belonging to Glover & Dunn were also fonnd. Upon this discov ery, Nattobl was promptly arrested, and on Monday was brought before Judge Williams, of the County Court, by whom he was sentenced to a fine of $50, or six months’ imprisonment. Few men are more alivo to the interest of this sec tion than he : In this issue, will be found, on onr first page, an'excellent article on “di rect trade" taken from the Brunswick Advertised and Appeal. Wo com mend it to the careful consideration of our readers. It is full of potential reflection to those who are looking forward with pleasure to the devel opment of this immediate section of the State. There is much more in that article than appears on the sur face, ns yet. The writer, CoL C. P. Goodyear, has given the snbjeot of developing Sontheast Georgia more calm thought than perhaps any man • who has overlived in this part of the State since the days of Thoms* But ler King. The day will coma and is not far distant, when his valoable ser vices will notonly be duly appreciated imt rewarded by the grandest hooch hat bos ever been achieved by the ixertions of any one man. Col. Goodyear is justly entitled to be reck- ned among the grand men of leorgia—be is level beaded and in defatigable in whatever he nnder- kes—he knows no such word as fail. The present building and surroundings are an 4ye sore to the town and should be swept' away as soon as the thing is possible. Besides it is not fit for the purpose for which it was intended viz: the safe keeping of prisoners. We need something lifter the order of the one that formerly stood where the present one now stands, and built so strong that twen ty men, with a 6x6 scantling as long as they could lift and used as a batter ing ram, could not break down the door, albeit a man was about to be burnt alive within. Besides being of no strength, the present building is in too public a place and should he located elsewhere. We bopo the au thorities will taka this .matter into consideration at an early day.
