IoOB£< The following letter from Major W. V. McCracken, Snperintendent of the Georgia Division of the E. T., V. & Q. R. R., is in reeponee to one from onrself asking that he give ns some thing definite to styti aarji&pbi! regard to better mail and passengf facilities for oar city. We citedi him our grievances, and asked that something be done. One cause of our scanty accommodations has been tbe fact that the rolling stock and motive power of the M. k B. Division bas been spread ont to fill the needs of the entire Georgia Division until tbeir line coaid be put through to Rome, and thus connect with the rest of tbeir system. Tbe connection now beiug made, that necessity no longer exists, and we may reasonably expect better mail sod passenger facilities, and especially so as we have herewith Major McCracken’s promise to do all in bis power. Stacy, Brunswick, Go.: Dear Sir—Your* of tbe 1st instant reached me, on my return from a wuek’s absonco, this morning. I have felt for some time that we ought to do something more for Brunswick— in fnct, I am sure we must do so as soou as wo ’ possibly can. Just now we are so short of motive powertbat it is impossible for as to accommo date our business as we desire. I will give yon ray word, however, that I will give this matter a personal exam ination, and see if we can't do some thing to accommodate your people.— Rest assured that personally I bave p strong desire to do so. Tho storo appears to be full to over flowing with beautiful goods, and yet Mr. Dunn informs ps that' the most of the goods purchased ty him in New York for tbe holiday trade are •yet to bo received and the puzzling question is where to find • room for them. Messrs. Glover k Dunn are jobbers as well as retailers,' Mid are prepared for orders by wholesale. The public are invited to inspect this stock, whiob we are assoredi When ful ly opened for tbe holiday trade cannot be surpassed for variety, novelty and quality by any similar institution in the State of Georgia. The busiest man in town just now is Mr. Glover, but he is never it a loss for time to greet bis friends with a pleasant smile and a hearty welcome. Young “Monty" Barkoloo it ever ready to supply the demands of costumers, and has a pleasant word for all, particularly the young ladies. This firm certainly deserve the pat ronage of our people, and we do not doubt they will meet with the suooew their pluck and eoterprwe so richly merit. We desire all oar friends to give them a call. Tbe following is copied from a late exchange: Nearly every body foKmiies around Atlanta came into the ,city yesterday to see Barrett’s great show. For weeks th.e circus has keeh advertiS' ing its great attractions, and yester day's exhibition disclosed tbe lact that their advertisements were bat the troth. Tbeir street parade was the largest ever seen in Atlanta, and took fifty minutes to pass a given point. Under tbe canvass there was no disappointment. The menagerie was excellent, both in number and variety of animals exhibited, and it is certain that a better collection bos never come Sooth with any cireus.— The cirene proper was above the av erage. The bareback riding, tbe acro batic feats, the dog show, tbe trained horses, the Malay gymnast’s antics, the tigbt-rope walking and velocipede riding, the trapeze performances, were all as good as ever Been in At lanta. Ooe commendublo fea ture of Barrett’s show is its decency. The men are-quiet, orderly and well- behaved, and there is a marked ab sence of rowdyism that usually char acterizes shows. Barrett’s, show is a good one--all who saw it say so. In fact, everything that is good with a circus was found with Barrett k Co.’s esterday.—Atlanta Constitution. He was rid ing in the caboose, aud while - the train was running at a rapid rate one of the caboose wheels flew into pieces nnd Denton was jolted to death.— There was nothing for him to bold to, and it is supposed thnt ho was stunn ed when bo fell and cousequeutly could not signal-tbe engineer, as tbe train did not stop until it reached Riceville.
