Dear Advertiser: I saw an item in
the paper of our leaving for the sea
side, so I thought I would let you
know we bad returned—mother get
ting worse. I eojoyed myself very
much, while not in the sick room. I
bud a half-dozeu pleasant rides ou the
beach and saw forty or fifty people in
the surf bathing at once—and how
they did enjoy it!
But I did not have the pleasure of
making tho birds as much ncqunintc-d
with my rifle as I had anticipated.
Since I have come home, however, I
flud plenty ot game iu our yard, which
is two or three acres large, so they
have plenty of room to play—squir
rels, rabbits, coons, aud jay birdseating
acorns and singing their joyful notes.
An old gopher nlso bas come up nnd
dug his nest near my play bouse.
Mother says I must not shoot any of
the game in tho yard; but might take
a walk up the road in the evenings
where I could find plenty to shoot.
I expect soon to get mo a Winches
ter rifle that will shoot sixteen times,
and then I may kill doer.

Dr. W. B. Burroughs, our towns

tho way of ancient documents. See
ing a notice in « paper recently of a
quaint old bill of lading dated 1790,
now iu tbe hands of Mr. M. F.Gowan,

and opening a neatly folded package,
told us to read. We did so; and
amoug those documents found sev
eral papers pertaining to uu arbitra

They were dated at Savannah, Ga.,
June 8th, 1773, and amoug the sign
ers of the documents we notice the
name of Burton Gwinnett, oue of the
signers of tho Declaration of Inde
pendence. We found nldo nn old bill
of later date—of Thomas Johnson,

roughs to James Storie, oue item of
which is—
“To Bold mounting one cocoauut sugar bowl-

Mrs. Burroughs owns the above
