A Pleasant Trip.
It has seldom been oar pleasure to
go on an excursion that had fewer
rough corners than the one on board
the Inca to Comberland last Tuesday
afternoon. Tbe party consisted of
Mr. Morris and Miss Lillie Littlefield,
Mr. Hnzleburst and Miss Gilmer, Mr.
Gorton and Miss Ida ’ Moore, Mr.
Carlto.. 3tacy and Miss Emma Little
field, Mr. Will Smith BDd Miss Ada
Wright, Mr. Arthur Blaiu and Miss
Letitia Wright, chaperoned by Capt.
Strong and Mrs. Littlefield, assisted
by the senior aod wife. The steamer
left her dock at one o'clock, after tbe
Seabreeze sprung op, thus avoiding all
the morning heat. The party being
only sixteen in number, there was
ample room. We landed first at High
Point, and visited the inuch-talked-of
eentnry plant, now fast going to de
cay. Only the blooms on tho upper
limbs are still fresh. Casting off from
High Point, we ran down to the low
er wharf, where carriages awaited ns,
and disembarking, drove over to tbe
Sen-Side, where we “took in” the
beauties of that delightful retreat, en
joyed sea balhing, rides ou the beach,
um! a good supper. At eleven o’clock
we left the hotel for the stenmer, and
8ometning after midnight were sung
ly inosed in our beds, dreaming of
the Inca,- Capt. Tapper and Engineer
GiSton, for be it known that the Inca
is one of tbe nicest crafts that float in
our waters, aod her officers as polite
nod courteous as ever walked a deck.
Our thanks are hereby tendered tbe

most delightful trip.

To die at home ot ripe old age,
surrounded by friends and kindred,
is a scene pictured by ns mortals as
that which we would have for our
selves when wo are called hence; but
how little wo know of the rulings of
that Being who govtrus both heuven

this proven in the case of little Henry,

breathed his last in onr midst last.
Wednesday night at 10:15 o’clock.
Thinking the lad would enjoy a trip

himself, the Captain brought Henry
down with him ou this trip of tbe

down with dysentery. Mr. William
Baker, seeing that the little fellow
was not comfortable oa shipboard,
offered him and his father a room in
his dwelling, which was’ accepted,
but the disease had taken firm hold,
and despite all efforts to save him, he
passed away in tho home of a stranger,
