THE RIGHT SPIRIT.
Expressive of the sentiment which
prevails in the south we commend the
following editorial from the “Virgin
ian-Pilot & Norfolk Landmark,” of
April 18th, and give it our hearty en
dorsement:
Suggestions that the Confeder
ate reunion projected to be held at
Washington in June next, coinci
dently with the inauguration of
Virginia’s monument to her sol
diers who fought at Gettysburg,
should be abandoned as out of
keeping with the state of war in
which the country has been forced
by a foreign foe, seem to us whol
ly undeserving of consideration.
Instead of being inappropriate that
at this time the surviving veterans
of the Confederacy should rebuild
their camp fires under thp shadow
of the National Capitol, to us It
appears that l.n other way could
the perfect reconciliation which
fifty years of peace have brought
about between the northern and
southern people be as clearly dem
onstrated and emphasised.
Since the crisis of our quarrel
with Germany came to a head the
most prompt and positive of the
voices calling for full vindication
of American rights have come
from the old men in gray who in
their youth battled for conscience
sake against the flag they have
taught their sons to revere as the
symbol of a reunited country. The
south stands as a unit behind the
government in its determination
to uphold the honor of the repub-

lic. We can imagine no scene more
inspiring of loyalty than will be
presented when the remnants of
the armies that, followed lAie and
Jackson and Johnston shall march
up Pennsylvania Avenue to the
Washington monument -und there
bear testimony to all the world
Unit every beat of their warrior
hearts keep time to the music of
the Union.
And if over the thin column
that remains of a once mighty
host the Stars and Bars shall fly
side by side with the Stars and
Stripes, the juncture would not re
vive buried differences, but would
give convincing token that the
wounds of the past have been
healed, its animosities buried, and
that the only rivalry now between
north, south, east and west is
which shall go foremost and fur
therest in fulfilling the duties of
patriotism to the land they love.

AN EASY WAY TO REDUCE FLESH
Drink Hot Water and Take Tassco
Haven’t you often wished for a medi
cine to reduce your flesh? Something
that does not require dieting or calis
thenics? Well, right here you have it
in 5-grain tassco tablets, which you
may secure at any good druggist. They
are pleasant to take, perfectly harm
less and cause no restrictions of habit
or eating, and reduce the flesh, little
by little, until you are down to the
number of pounds you wish to weigh.
Too much flesh is undesirable, as most
quite stout peojfle will readily admit,
and it detracts from one’s good ap
pearance; makes one clumsy and short
of breath.
There ign’t any reason why anyone
should be too stout, when there’6 this
much-tried, perfectly satisfactory rem
edy at any good druggist. Tassco tab
lets (don’t foTget the name) are rec
ommrnded by physicians and are guar
anteed to be perfectly harmless. Re
fuse substitutes, if you can not come
to our store, we will mail tassco to
you.
