SCHEUER BROTHERS
I given, in Cartersville this week and
j next will bring here noted educators,
splendid lecturers, statesmen, singers
and masters of the many musical in
struments. There will be fun of the
i finest order, patriotic tableaus, and
every form of entertainment that ear
iit s its appeal to the public, will he
j furnished by the very best talent to be
secured.
It is hoped that Cartersville and Bar
tow county people will manifest their
j appreciation by attending the chautau
qua'tlaily,— that they will do more than
thjs thrpugh the purchase of season
tickets from the X. M. C. A., of
Cartersville, is to he benefitted.
Friends of the association having an
interest in boyhood and young man
hood of the city, more seriously inter
ested now than heretofore because of
the likelihood of young men being
called to the colors, are eager and anx
ious that the Y. M. C. A. be furnished
with means by which it can furnish
attractive environment, healthful and
engaging physicaj exercise and diver
sions and entertainment that will at
tract as against the tempting pitfalls
that are otherwise provided in all com
munity life.
An active ticket sale campaign is
being conducted. Young boys, them
selves the beneficiaries of a well con
ducted Y. M. C. A., are soliciting sales
of season tickets. Several young ladies
are co-operating in the same work, and
this week the women of the Cherokee
Club have joined hands in the cause
and are throwing the force of their
personality and interest into the cam
paign for a bigger and Better, broader
and more completely equipped Y. M.
C. A.
Business men, who have great rea
son to recognize the value of the man
power, are championing a general pat
ronage of the chautauqua, both be
cause of the excellence of the enter
tainment furrflshed as well as the ben
efit the proceeds from the season tick
et sales will supply, and thus the real
citizenship of Cartersville is back of
a worthy organization furnishing en
tertainment, profitable information
and amusement on its own account
end because a worthy association will
reap great benefits from th% general
patronage that will be furnished the
former.
We trust that every well wisher of
Cartersville’s present and future citi
zenship, that every citizen possessing
civic pride and interest will, not only
attend the performances which are in
every way worthy and commendable,

Sit Steady in the Boat
$ /
There is nothing more unpatriotic that a man can do at
this time than to get panicky about his own business, and
imagine that because war has been declared every .kind of
commerce, including his own, is going to the demnition bow
wows. In the first place we don’t know how this war is going
to affect us—nobody knows —it may be over before it has
had a chance to hurt us in a business way—and op the other
hand it may last a long time and force every one of us to
bend every effort to keep our own affairs going. But whichever
way it turns out, there is only one sane and sensible thing
for us to do now, and that is to sit steady in the boat and keep
on pulling at the oars. Let each one, instead of throwing up
his hands and letting things drift, pull just a little harder than
ever. If the war makes it harder to get business, let’s ail work
harder and get business. Let us all do our share— those of
us who cannot go to the front—toward maintaining solid
prosperity at home. This is sound patriotism as well as sound
business.
We will be on the job all the time, war or no war, so if
you need any drugs just call us and you will get them in
a hurry.
