The Board of Education has arrang ed to conduct at Euharlee, a summer school, for teachers, beginning June 4 and continuing through the 29th. Some of the best instructors of the state have been employed for this work, and a course of study especially designed to meet the needs of aural teachers has been adopted and it Is needless to say that teachers are ex pected Jo attend. A large crowd from this place at tended the all day singing at Atco last Sunday. Mr. Lee Shinall and family have moved to this place from below Car tersville. Miss Flora Culver is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Mollie Rhodes, of Adairs ville, this week. Grace Brown visited her cousin, Mrs. Phi lips, at Atco, last week. Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Shinall, of this place attended preaching at Center last Sunday. Mrs. Eliza Brambiett, of this place, is spending some time with her daugh ter, Mrs. Willis, at Ladds. Mrs. Julia Guyton and daughter, Mildred, of Acworth, are spending this week with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. John Guyton. Mrs. Mamie Smith and children were the guests of her aunt, Mrs. Ber ry Duck, of Cartersville, last Sunday afternoon. i Mr. Jim Martin arid nephew, Mr. Martin Simpson, of this place, were in Atlanta last Saturday night and Sun day. Mrs. Wofford, of Cartersville, was visiting her daughter, Mrs. R. J. Don ahoo, one day last week. BARTOW COUNTY SINGERS MET IN ANNUAL SESSION. ■* The Bartow county singers met in regular annual session at Pine Log, May 4 and 5. The downpour of rain prevented a morning session on Fri day, but the clouds lifted and a goodly number gathered for an afternoon ses sion. The convention was called to order at two o'clock by Prof. J. M. Henson, vice-president, and a splendid musical program was carried out. The Saturday sessions were well at tended and delightful music rendered. Prof. W. W. Combs, from Lawrence burg, Tenn., was with us and gave val uable help. Among the special features of the convention were some quartets by the Gaines Sisters and solos by Professor Combs, duets by MisS Bes sie Gaines and Professor Henson. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: Mr. C. L. Anthony, president; Prof. S. A. Gilreath, vice-president; Mr. D. A. Barton, secretary, and Rev. W. S. Adams, chaplain. The convention accepted, the invita tion extended by Cross Roads church for the meeting next year. These annual gatherings are looked forward to with pleasure by the music lovers of the county and when they gather, mingling their voices in sing ing the old songs and learning new ones, it is indeed a season of joy and pleasure. Navigation on the Great Lakes is now open, and the familiar sound of steamboat whistles is indeed a wel come one to many, for not only do the steamers afford relief from the freight congestion but also furnish a most comfortable mode of travel for pas sengers. Officials of the C-. & B. Lines which operate the great ship “Seeanbee” and steamers “City of Buffalo” and “City of Erie” daily between Cleveland and Buffalo, predict that this season will surpass all others in volume of pas senger and frieght traffic. Never has business started with such a rush which surely reflects the general pros* perous condition of the country Vacation trips which afford change from the every day scenes are regard ed as essential by the American peo ple, and thousands are now turning to the Great Lakes for the alluring trips by water.
