DETACHMENT LEAVES FOR MACON CAMP. The detachment of the sth regiment which has been for several weeks camped on the Etowah river at the railroad bridge broke camp Tuesday and left for Macon in accordance with orders received to this effect. No sol diers have been yet ordered to take their place and, hence, Cartersville will, for the first time in several weeks, he without the inspiring pres ence of these guardians of our coun try’s safety. The people of Cartersville greatly regretted the necessity of parting with the boys. They have been uni formly gentlemanly in their bearing and conduct and have entered largely into social affairs which has contrib uted greatly to the pleasure of all. Friendships have been formed and many citizens will follow' the mem bers of the detachment into the life of the soldier on the field and it is needless to say that the universal w;ish and confident expectation goes forward that each will acquit, himself well. Mr. Irwin Alrnaml of the Medical Corps National Guard has been with both detachments which have guarded this bridge and, hence, became the t‘BSt known to Cartersville citizens of any of the soldiers and great regret has been expressed that he has been called away from our community life.
