Those who wish to make the hos irffal shirts for the Red Cross can get them now at the work room. At an early date the box of dressings will be sent off to headquarters and the chair men of the work room wish all would come and help to get it ready. Mrs. Robert Renfroe has been ap pointed chairman of the knitting com mittee and as soon as the yarn comes she will announce her plans for this work. Woman’s Missionary Society. Annual meeting of the Woman’s Missionary Society of the Middle Cherokee Association will be held v. ith the East Side Baptist church on the sth and 6th of September. 1 he meeting will open on the even ing of the sth with an address by Dr. Ayre, medical missionary from China. On Tuesday afternoon the IT, D. C. met with Mrs. Joel G. Greene and a historical program was given, .Miss Lillian Greene gave a sketch of Gen eral J. E. B. Stewart, Miss Ethel Grif fin read a paper on 'Straight’s Raid Into Georgia " Mrs. Garnette Greene gave the life of General p. m. B. Young. Mrs. Colquitt Finley told of the Battle of Kennesaw and the death of General Pope. The Bartow County Confederate History was given by Mrs. J. G. Greene. Mrs.-Clarence Taff de lighted the chapter with several music selections. At the conclusion of the program a business meeting was held and the following officers were elected: President, Miss Mamie Jones; vice president, Mrs, A. J. Mon fort; secre tary and treasurer. Mrs. Wilbur Ham. The next meeting, which will be the first Tuesday in September, will he held with Mrs. Colquitt Finley. patriotic dance. Hie young ladies will give a dance Friday evening at the Etowah CJr.b in honor of the yoking men who are leaving soon tor training camps an I college. The decorations will be roil, white and blue. SAMUEL G. JONES FAMILY REUNION. The twenty-first annual reunion of this family was held at the home of Mrs. L. E. Jones, widow cf the late Col. R. H. Jones, ir Cartersville, Au gust 19th. More than a hundred descendants of Rev. Samuel G. Jones, grandfather of the late Sam P. Jones, the “pulpit genius* of America,’’ assembled to gether on this occasion. At the beginning of the morning ser vice, conducted by Rev. E. K. Akin, of Atlanta, a life-long- friend of the family, a son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Jones, Jr., a son of "Mr. and Mrs*. Harry Cobb, and a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Jones, of Oconee, Tenn., were christened. After a prayer by Rev. J. G. Logan, pastor of the Sam Jones Memorial church, Mrs. Ruohs Pyron and Mm A. B. Cunyus, great nieces of Rev. Samuel G. Jones, sang sweetly an old hymn, one of his fav orites. After a most delicious dinner served on the lawn a business session was held. Following this, Mr. J. A. Sharp, of Rome, gave some very beautiful and interesting reminiscences of his asso ciation with the seven sons of Rev. Samuel G. Jones, in whose company Mr. Sharp went through the Civil war. “God Be With You Till We Meet Again” was then sung and every one pronounced this one of the most de lightful reunions that had ever con vened. MisS Kathleen Morris, a graduate of Bessie Tift College and a student of the Metropolitan Music Muster in New York, who for the past three years has taught music at Bessie Tift, was the week-end guest of Miss Eunice Ginn and left Tuesday for Atlanta be fore going to Texas where site has ac cepted a position in the tmt-ie depart ment of Simmons College.
