WOODROW WILSON TELLS SOLDIERS TO READ BIBLE. The White House, Washington. The Bible is the word of life. I beg that you will read it and find this out for yourselves—read, not little snatch es here and there, but long passages that will realky be the road to the heart of it. You will find it full of real men and women not only but also of things you have wondered about and been troubled about all your life, as men have been always; and the more you read the more it will become plain to you what things are worth while and what are not, what things make men happy—loyalty, right dealings, speaking the truth, readiness to give everything for what they think their duty, and, most of all, the wish that they may have the real approval of the Christ, who gave everythinjj for them—and the things that are guaran teed to make men unhappy—selfish ness, cowardice, greed, and everything that is low and mean. When you have read the Bible you will know that it i.~ the Word of God, because you will have found it the key to your own heart, your own happiness, and your own duty. WOODROW WILSON. BARTOW RURAL HIGH SCHOOL HAS GOOD OPENING. On Monday morning, September 3d, | the Bartow Rural High school opened for its fourth year. The auditorium was filled with pa trons and friends of the school. The opening was the best in the history of the school, both in point of numbers and interest shown. The focal patron age was the largest that the school has ever experienced and the dormi tories will soon be filled, if we are to judge from the opening indications. -Stipt. Henry Milam made a lengthy and interesting address in which he set forth some means of developing plans already under way for better serving, the needs of the school in ac complishing the work it has set about doing. Following the address by Supt. Mil am was an address by Prof. A. V. Fol som, principal of the school. In the course of his address he discussed, •‘Things of ita! interest to schools and some of the present day needs In edu cation." After these talks, each member of the faculty and several patrons of the school gavae short talks. These talks, whether welcoming the new teachers or expressing pleasure at being a mem ber of (he faculty, were full of inter est and enthusiasm. After the opening exercises, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all, the pupils Were met in the various class rooms by their teacher and regulai work was begun. A. V. FOLSOM, Principal. N FIVE MINUTES!
