OBIT 7 ARY
MRS. MARGARET R HANNON.
•Mrs. .Margaret Rebecca Hannan, the
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hood,
t ho moved from South Carolina in the
tfear 1850, and settled in Bartow, then
Geass County. Mrs. Hannon has also
dec? n ,ivin ® on the same farm—where
pou! was born on August 31st, 1853, un
for she departed this life on November
-xSt, 1917, —leading a useful and de
voted life to her home and family.
She was the mother of nine living
children, four of them going to the
tomb, before their mother. Two
daughters and three sons survive her,
with her husband, Zeph%miah Franklin
Hannon, to whom she was married on
February 15th, 1877, and also her only
and devoted sister, Miss Kate Hood.
Mrs. Hannon was converted at the
early age of eleven lears, under ihe
preaching of Rev. C. A. Evans, joining |
the Presbyterian Church In Carters
ville—one among the oldest living I
members of that organization 1
loyal and steadfast to her religious j
duties and obligations. j
Mrs. Hannon was an invalid for
many years. Her suffering was great
and long continued, but the closing
hours were beautifully calm and peace
ful. She realized that the end was
near, and she knew her dear ones, and
talked with them, as to her wishes and
requests up to the final moment of de
parture for the Spirit World.
The writer has known dear Maggie
from her babyhood, has been her
steadfast friend for more than half a
oentury, and it is a privilege to write'
these parting words and bear testi
mony to her excellencies af character
as wife, mother, sister and friend, and
of her devotion to her religious con
victions.
Rebecca Latimer Felton, j
TRIBUTE OF RESPECT.
iJrs. Susan B, Parker was born in
Cherokee County, Georgia, November
t, 1837, and died at'her home near
White, Ga., October 13, 1917, of that
wasting disease, cancer of the stomash.
Sister Parker was twice left a widow
to battle with the hardships' of widow
hood. She was converted when but a '
little girl and joined the M. E. Church, '
*" the countv
South, of old Fairview, u> -- ,
where she was born. To this church j
she gave many years of self sacrifice .
and toil to the upbuilding of the cause
of Christ in that community. Her
works do follow her. In the memory .
of those people with whom she lived j
and labored the name of Sister Parker j
will always be dear because of her
earnestness in her work and goodness '
to all those with whom she came in \
contact. To know her was to love her. 1
She bore her sickness with
fortitude. Many will rise up in the '
resurrection morning and call her
blessed. The writer visited her home
several times, and especially during '
her last illness, every time to catch a
brighter glimpse of the Eternal World !
by her heavenly conversation. Her !
■whole theme was to do the will of her j
L/ord and to finish her work with a 1
‘triumphant faith and enter into the
Heavenly City prepared for those who
love the Lord. Just before she died
she sang, ‘'l am going Home to Glory
in the Good Old Fashioned Way.” Her
heavenly smile assured those standing
near that she was confident of the
safe landing on the eternal shore.
Tic funeral services were conducted
at Pinelog, Ga., by the writer, assisted
by Brother Barton. Many of the con
gregation arose and gave testimony to
the fact of her useful life, which had
been a great blessing to them. Her
relatives and friends can <k> nothing
better than to trust in God as did this
good old mother in Israel.
Be faithful brothers, sifters and chil
dren, and some day you will see her
again.
