This course is designed to help in carrying out the plans of the food administra ! tion. —Miss Dowdle. Cooking. Ten Periods.—This course will in ; elude home canning of fruits and veg etables; the cookery of vegetables, 'soups, breads, egg and msats; a study of food principles, comparative food values, the relative cost of foods, and | combinations of foods in a healthful diet. The feeding of growing children and menus for school lunches will be emphasized. Opportunity will be given for laboratory practice.—Mrs. Wood. Home Vegetable Gardening. Ten Lectures.—These lectures will deal with a brief outline of the types of soil, soil preparation, soil cultiva tion, planting of seeds, handling and setting plants, garden insects and dis eases and their control, and the culti vation of summer and winter varieties of vegetables adapted to Georgia. Prof. Ragsdaie. Dairying. ' Five Lectures. —In vhis course, the ‘care and hanling of milk and its pro ducts in the home will be stressed. | Different methods of marketing the | products, advantages and disadvant ages of each system, the manufacture and marketing of butter and cottage cheese and the proper handilng until marketed will be treated. Various methods of cream separation will be considered, also the testing of milk and cream for butterfat. Prof. Howell. Five Practice Periods.—This will consist of practical work designed to follow up the lectures. Practice will be given in churning, printing and packing butter, the testing of milk and cream, cheese making and the use of the cream seporator.—Professors Howell and Skinner. Poultry Raising. Ten Lectures on Breeds and Breed ing.—The course will consfet of a study of the different breeds and va rieties best suited to farm conditions; the selection, housing, and mating of the breeding stock; and culling out poor producers. A study of the differ ent kinds of feed required for growth, egg production, and fattening for mar ket will be given.—Prof. Wood. Practice Period.—ln addition to the ; lectures, practice periods will be given 'on Poultry House Construction; Se ilecting Breeders and High Producers; THE babtow Tnr c Operating Incubators; Candling, grad ing, and packing eggs, and killing and f ° Wlfi for ™rket.-Prof < )ther Courses. In addition to the regular courses offered, women will be eligible for work in other departments. There will be arranged from time to time meet ings for the discussion of problems of interest to women. It is expected that speakers of national reputation will address the women at these meetings. | Round table conferences will also be held each day for the benefit of the county home demonstration agents who will be in attendance upon the short course. Expenses. Except for the registration fee of i one dollai there will be no expenses for the course other than railroad fare, board, and lodging. Every person who intends to come to the College to take this ten day’s course should notify the College in advance that arrangements may be made. Board and lodging will cost from a dollar and a half a day up. In writing for accommodations it would be best to state what sum one is willing to pay. ANDREW M. SOULE, President.
