The bean beetle is an unwelcome vis-*
itor in our community this spring, and
is sure playing havoc with the bean
crop.
The boll weevil has also made his
appearance.
The worms are feasting on the young
corn, doing a great deal of damage in
some places. N

regular meeting days at Bethel. •

Russell to Oppose
Harris For The
U. S. Senate Soon
Atlanta, Ga., June 28,—Much Interest
has been aroused in the state concern
ing- the statement of Judge R. B. Rus
sell, published in the Savannah Press
on June 7, and later in many state
newspapers, that he intended to oppose
Senator Harris for his seat in the
United States senate.
Judge Russell has made no definite
announcement concerning his entering
the senatorial race, but friends who
enjoy his confidence declare his candi
dacy is settled. Judge Russell is one
of the best known men in the state and
has been in public life for many yeras.
