During the past week two hundred school children were examined at Fur- low Grammar school on Jacks m street Those oxamlned were In the Fifth. Sixth and Seventh grades.' The eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, teeth and heart of each child was examined. The work was done as carefully as possi ble. Among the 200 examined twenty-two were found to havo detective vision; six were found to have defectlvo hear ing; thirty-four were found with some defect of the nose and throat, usually lently enlarged to Interfere with breathing through the nose should bo removed. Simple enlargement of the tonsils la not sufficient ground for re moval. It dopends on the presence of disease. All diseased tonsils should be removed, whether largo or small. Tho most common defect was that of defective teeth. Defects In tho first set of teeth were not classed as such, unless very bad. Even slight detects in tho permanent teeth were not noted, but only those dofects needing atten tion.
