C., Dec. 2 Estimates totalling more than thirteen and a half million dollars for the prosecution of the war during 1919, and involving the most stupendous ap iproprlatlons In the history of tbo na tion, were submitted to congress to day by tho treasury department. In round figures the estimates in clude the appropriation of more than eleven billion dollars for war pur poses alono, whereas no previous es timate for similar purposes has ever exceeded two billions. Only a part of this money l 8 proposed to be rais ed by taxation, the remainder to bo derived from the sale of additional lib erty bonds. Among appropriations for the con tinuation of work already authorized, the following are included In the es timates submitted by the treasury de. partment: Dawson, Ca.. 333,000; Dou glas, Ga., 330,000; Washington, Ga.. $9,000; West Point, Ga., $9,500. Military Appropriations Asked. A war budyet or more than eleven billion dollars, to pay army and navy oxpenses during the year 1919 was laid before congress when the administra tion estimates covering only strictly military oxpenses wa 9 presented. The cost of improving and maintain ing harbors and waterways utilized In handling tho country’s water borne commerce, was stated to con gress today at $29.515,G97 for the next fircal year.
