I see the duffer fall, and lift him to his
feet; I dry the widow's tears, and still the or
phan's sighs; and when a bum appears, I feed
his pumpkin pies. With charity on file, my fail
ings do not count; my soul may harbor guile
in fabulous amount; but charity's a cloak that
covers all my sins, and so through town I poke,
and meet with friendly grins. With charity for
all I go my modest way, and strive not to re
call ill tales of yesterday; the rumors foul and
dire that smirch a fellow’s name, and drag
through muck and mire some once unspotted
fame. I struggle to forget the libels doubly
base which make the victim vweat in anguish
and disgrace. With charity I greet the fellows
who have failed, and all whose futile feet have
to demnition trailed. I'm not so snowy white
that I can sit on high, and hand out words that
blight, to any erring guy. If charity is mine, I
may have countless faults, but my white soul
will shine, when through the Gates I waltz.

proud of him—the whole state of Georgia is proud | crowd just at this time with perpetual prohibition
of him. for it is boys'of his kind that make the
men who make the nation great and good.
Several months ago The Times-Recorder
told of Stonewall's pigs, and how if he didn't
bring home the Fordson tractor from the state
fair, the hoy or girl who did win it would be there
with the finest hogs ever seen before in Georgia.
But he won it—and over some mighty keen com
petition, too. t
The Macon News of last evening tells some
thing of Stonewall and the awarding of the trac
tor at the fair as follows:
"Stonewall Shirley, of Plains, Ga., 18-year-
old pig club boy. is winner of the Fordson tractor
and complete set of farming implements, valued
at $1,200. He was one of the happiest exhibitors
on the state fair grounds Monday. He entered a
pure-bred Duroc-Jersey sow and four pigs.
Dr. E. Z. Russell, of Washington, D. C.,
judged the entries in this contest. When he
started judging at the fair Monday morning, he
took the pig club Fordson entries first, and after
careful study of every sow and litter, awarded the
tractor to Shirley. ,
"The winner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
only a few weeks in the offing. Of course, the “No
Beer, No Work" slogan is an absurdity. Carried
to its logical conclusion as has been so aptly stated,
if becomes: “No beer, no work; no work, no
pay; no pay, no eat; no eat, no live.”
But it might take some time to convince some
of the radicals of the inevitableness of this con
clusion, and proving it to them is .not of first im
portance just now.
* Of one thing we may be certain: The Presi

tion . But it 'may be said of him, in the .manner of

do the unexpected.
ART IN BABY FINGERPRINTS.
Now and then the work-a-day world runs
across something in the news of the day that tugs
at the heartstrings. Now comes the news from
New York—wicked, cold-hearted New York—
that baby finger prints on the wallpaper are the
finest examples of mural art. This was the de
cision handed down in the Bronx municipal court
Shirley, of Plains. He has been a member of the iTT" T"JT fT* “‘“‘“"‘P"* courl
« , , , by Justice Kobitzek, in dismissing a suit to recover
boys' pig club for four years, and when he learn
ed that a Fordson was being offered as a prize
last March he entered the contest.
He is one of the most successful hog grow-
ers in his section, and in addition to entering the
sow and four pigs, had several other) entries. He
exhibited his sow and pigs at the Americus fair,
where he sold the pigs for $ 100 each. He declin
ed to sell the sow.
"Four years ago, W. E Brown, a farmer
and neighbor of the Shirley family, gave him a
Duroc-Jersey sow, provided he joined the pig club.
That sow was the great-grandmother of the four
pigs and grandmother of the sow which won the
tractor. From the sow given him, hg raised twen
ty-eight hogs, selecting a new brood sow each year.
In 1917, he raised two litters from a new brood
sow. The sow that won the tractor has had only
one litter and four of the pigs were exhibited with
her.
"In addition to winning the tractor, this young
breeder also won the junior championship in the
Duroc-Jersey class in the open ring against all
breeders.
alleged damages because a baby had embellished
the interior decorations of an apartment with a
friese all its own.
‘This would be a happier world to live) in,"
the justice said, "if baby fingers could only make
their imprint on the hearts of men and women. I
would rather see the print of baby fingers on the
wall of my house than have them adorned with the
world's masterpieces."
THAT PACKING PLANT.
Americus is taking steps to build a meat
packing plant," says the Cordele Sentinel. "The
business men of that -section will find it one of the
greatest developing agencies of the twentieth c
tury. We cannot have too many packing plants in
South Georgia."
The man who wrote the above paragraph is
John L. Herring, of Tifton and Cordele. Tift
people know what a packing plant means.

SEND THEM BACK.
Our forefathers fought for this country first,
and fought next to establish a government here.
Aliens, who crossed the ocean during recent years
to make their homes in America insist on enjoying
all of the privileges and paying none of the price.
Not only that, but they want to overthrow our
government and set up one after their own ideas;
like guests who come into your house, turn your
family out a^d take possession. The best thing our
country can do is to send those people back whence
they came, and the sooner this is done the safer
for all concerned. Leave America in the hands
of Americans for a while; Bolshevists and other
trouble-makers can find plenty of company of their
own way of thinking across the water.—Cordele
