Roy Crabb was the son of Mrs.
Faanie Crabb, of Americus, who be
fore her marriage was Miss Fannie
Stewart, of Lovett, Ga., and who!
survives 1dm. His father was the
late John Roy Crabb, who died sev
eral years ago. Surviving him be
sides his mother, are five sisters. Mrs.
Dessic Crabb Ragan, of Portsmouth,
Va.; Mrs. Corinne Crabb Tucker, of
Americus; Mrs. Willie Crabb Grims-
’ey. of Cordele; Mrs. May Crabb Wil
liams and Miss Annie Belie Crabb,
of Americus, and a brother, Robert
Taimadgc Crabb, who also resides
Here. In 1910 he became a member
of First Methodist church of Anieri-
etts, being received into the commun
ion by Rev. W. P. Wardlaw, then pas
tor of that congregation.
He was a mechanic by occupation,
and received his first mechanical
training in the establishment of the
Americus Vulcanizing Co. In 1917
ho enlisted in the navy and was as-
signed to the United States Ship Vir-
ginia, on which he served throughout
the war, and after the armistice, be
ing discharged as a first class sea
man. Returning to Americus, he was
cr.rloycd for a time by tile Americus
Automobile Co. Three weeks ago he
went to Akron to accept a position
with the Goodyear Rubber Co., and
he was taken ill with influenza Feb
ruary 2. Pneumonia developed quick
ly. and death ensued last night. The
body will be brought to Americus for
funeral and interment, nnd is expect
ed to reach here Friday morning on
the Seminole Limited.

Rev. G. L. Yates’ Wife
Dies At Texas Home
ATLANTA, Feb. 5.—A telegram
to friends in this city last night
brought news of the death of Mrs.
G. L. Yates, wife of Rev. Dr. G,
Yates, at McKinney, Tex.
Dr. Yates was formerly pastor of
the First Baptist church in this city.
He gave up his pnstorate here be
cause of his wife’s illness and hasten
ed back to Texas hoping that the
change of climate would improve her
condition.
The funeral and burial of Mrs.
Yates will take place at Tyler. Tex
on Saturday morning, the message
stated.
Thad Glover To Open
Elm Ave Saw Mill
An addition to the manufacturing
enterprises of Americus wil be made
immediately, at was announced to
day. A sawmill, to be known as the
Elm Avenue Saw Mill nnd^ Wqod
Yard, is to be erected on -Elm i
nue, near the city lijnits. The mill
will be logged, to begin with, with
timber from H. H. Glover’s planta
tion south of Americus. by gasoline
motor truck. It is proposed to man
ufacture and sell lumber and stove
and fire wood, the wood to be manu
factured from the by-products of the
timber and mill. The enterprise will
bo in charge of W. Thad Glover as
manager.
Asks South To Lead
In Memorial Trees
WASHINGTON, Feb. 5.—An ap-
peal to Southern states “to show the
rest of the country something big in
memorial tree planting,” was issued
today by President Charles L. Pack,
of the American Forestry Association,
who called attention to the fact that
Arbor Day will be celebrated in Flor
ida tomorrow and in Alabama and
Texas February 22.

senate and sent to conference. Pro
vision was made for the purchase of
the Curtiss-Elmwood airplane plant
at Buffalo, N. J.
Other appropriations in the meas
ure were $835,000 for the infantry
school at Camp Benning, Ga., and submitted
$1,173,000 for Camp Brass, N. C.
of the stockholders.
