shall have one national convention
delegate and if. having polled 10,000
nr more, two delegates; and if. having
a representative representation in
congress, regardless of the number
of votes polled, two delegate*
On this basis, Georgia in the next
republican national convention, as
suming that the districts' vote wil'
not materially change from the dir
triet's vote in 1920, will have ten
delegates, including the four deli-
gates at large in the republican ern-
ventton of 1924. instead of 17 dele
gates. as in the convention of 1920.
These will be made up of two each
from the seventh and ninth districts
and one each from the fifth and
eighth. The other districts will have
no delegates.
On the same basil, South Caro
lina to the north, will have only the
four delegates at large, and no dele
gates from tho congressional districts,
as no district In that state polled in
the 1920 election as many as a fixed
unit of 2.500 votes. Heretofore
South Carolina has had eleven in the
national convention.
Misaiaaippi accordingly will have
only four vote* in the next conven
tion, having had twelve heretofore
by reason of the fact that no district
in Mississippi has pplled more than
2,500 republican votes.
Tennessee Gains.
On the other hand. Tennessee,
which has heretofore had 20 votes
in the national convention, will in
1924 have <2. by reasons of the in
creased renubliean strength in Ten
nessee in the 1920 republican elec
tion.
The same la true of Arkansas,
which will have 14 in the 1924 con-
ion. as against 13 in the 1920.
Texas will lore two votes, Ala
bama will remain the same, Louisiana
will be thus reduced three and Flor
ida increased one. Therefore, as *
whole, the Southern states as a unit
basis will have around 25 votes less
in the 1924 convention than in 1920,
the entire delegation from all the
state* in the union will be increased
to 1.037 convention votes.
Today’s action comes is a direct
determination on the part of the
republican leaden to build up in the
state a republican party under ab
solutely white control, and Is the »e-
