Cole Manufacturing Com pany received an order two or three weeks ago from F. J. Cooledge & Bro., of Atlanta, manufacturers and whole sale dealers in paints, for a first-class 25-horse power engine and boiler, to be used in running the machinery in tlieir manufacturing department. They were finished up and shipped last Mon day and are now being placed in posi tion. The sort of enterprise that is not afraid of competition is the kind that, succeeds always, and the Cole Manu facturing Company seem about as much at home in Atlanta as in Newnan. sioners. Miss Elmore s reading, or rather speaking, is a luxury to those who hrre the sound of the English language, finely modu lated and beautifully spoken by a mu sical voice. Her sup port was excellently placed in their va rious roles. “only a woman’s heart.” On Friday night Miss Helen Blythe* will appear at Reese’s Opera House as the leading character in “Only a Wo man’s Heart,” which has had such a popular run for two or three seasons past. It is highly commended by dra matic critics as one of the strongest emotional society dramas on the Amer ican stage, and Miss Blythe has achieved a national reputation by her successful presentation of the play. Stacy, Mr. Burn Capers and Miss Mattie Underwood. The bride is well known in Newnan, having visited hereon several occasions, and her many friends will be rejoiced to hear of her happy marriage. Prof. W. H. Andrews will move to East Point shortly, and will take charge of the school at that place. Forbes, one of the largest gro cery establishments in that town. As sets are about $70,000; liabilities be tween $40,000 and $00,000. The firm did a business amounting to $75,000 or $100,000 a year, Mr. T. H. Lane has opened a choice stock of fancy and family groceries hr the corner store next to T. E. Fell & Co.’s, and respectfully invites his friends to call and see him. He pro poses to sell goods as cheap as any dealer in town and we hope will receive a liberal patronage. Messrs. Jos. T. Kirby and R. M. Hackney made a riving trip to Ken tucky this week, and while there pur chased a fine, standard bred trotting stallion. “Grand Wilkes” is the name of the horse, which may be briefly de scribed a* follows: Foaled in 1S82; bay; 15$ hands high; sired by “Lyle Wilkes,” the sire of “Mattie Wilkes,” whose rec ord is 2:30; dam, the dam of “Lula Wilkes,” who lias a record of 2:27. Carmicai, jail foes for October. 5 00 5 I/” the rounds of the press, the following from the Columbus Enquirer-Sun seems to furnish the best description of Miss Blythe’s admirable acting, and of tin- play itself: Miss Helen Blythe k a genuine American girl, possessing many per sonal charms, and is a natural born ac tress, as was fully illustrated last night by her portrayal of “Edith Gordon,’ in “Only a Woman’s Heart.” The char acter is intensely emotional through out, and requires hard study and fine acting to keep up its strength and in- tenseness without making its-rendition unnatural. Miss Blythe succeeded in doing this admirably, enchanting tin- interest and attention of her audience during the entire play.
