Subsequently an ordinance was passed by the City Council author izing the issuance of bonds to the amount of $10,000, and August 2Sth was designated as the time for receiving and considering bids for the same. A most desirable location can be obtained, and Major Jones says all that need be done now to get the enterprise on foot is for Newnan to make up an amount equal to one-third of the capital needed. Several of our citizens have indicated a willingness to take stock in the enter prise, though no formal canvass has yet been made. Major Jones will take pleasure in giving additional informa tion to those who feel an interest in the matter, and invites the assistance and iCo-operation of till our citizens. There is not a town in the State that can make so good a showing, either as regards property values or the low {•ate of taxation required to defray the expenses of government; and we capi tally doubt if there is a town in Geor gia or in the South, of equal popula tion, that can float a six per cent, bond above par.
