She was about 70 years of age. Mr. M. B. Hamilton, of Fall River. Mass., was in the city Tues day on the way to New Orleans. The old ma j chines and *(>()<) cash were exchang ed for the new machines; the regu lar price of the new ones being j S275 each. The tirst meeting of the Horn*' Mis sion Society wns held at the residence of Mrs. Glenn Arnold Thursday after noon. After a lesson from the 25th chapter of Matthew and prayer, Mrs J. H. Covin, Secretary of the LaGrange District, gave an interesting talk on the wide scope of home mission work and its three fold purpose—that of serving humanity, building character and sav ing souls; of (he many homes, schools and other institutions it was helping to support. While we can do but little alone, by joining hands we can become a power in our Master’s vineyard. The following officers were elected for the year: Mrs. Glen Arnold, president; Mrs. S. K. Leigh, tirst. vice president; Mrs. A. H, S. Hugg, 2nd vioe president; Mrs. J. I). Moreland, Hrd vice president ; Mrs. ,T. T. Miss Lucile Banks lins returned homo from a pleasant visit to Marietta, At lanta and other plnces. Roy F, White, of Atlanta, spent Sun day with his parents in Grautville. Miss Lida Cleveland, who lias been the guest of Mrs. W. G. Sadler for sev eral mouths past, returned Monday to her home in Virginia. Mr. Emmett Clifford England is a now arrival in our town. He is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford England. Misses Ellen Roswell and Fannie Hop kins spent Sunday with Mrs. O. A.Burks at Burksdale. Mrs. S. E. Leigh was in Newnan Mon day. L. S. Sewell went to Newnan Sunday. Judging from his frequent visits, we suppose there is some special attraction in Newnan for him. Miss Emma Belle Cellars will spend Thursday in Atlanta. The Sunday schools are requested to meet at the homo of Mrs. Glenn Arnold Friday evening for the purpose of prac ticing songs. An enjoyable occasion of the past week was the swapping party given by the Ladies Parsonage Society at the Masonic Hall on Friday evening. Sand wiches and pickles were served. About $1 was taken in for benefit of parsonage. Mrs. James Fuller, of St. Charles, is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. 'J'. M. Zellers.
