Tompkins, one of the most extensive and successful farmers of Heard county, was in the city Wednesday, and gives an account of a terrilic cloud burst which happened in his section of the county on Saturday evening last. On < 'entralhatchce creek live mill dams were washed away, and thousands of acres of corn wen 1 overflown and much of it practically ruined. As a result of the intense heat Monday afternoon, Henry Perry, colored, an old fireman on the A. & VV. I*, railroad, was overcome and fell to the ground as lie alight ed from his engine as 'Train No. 40 to Atlanta arrived.
