The people are coming to New-
nan next Saturday, August 4th.
Don't forget this, please; and join
the throng that will hear Moke
Smith’s speech.
Coweta people disagm* in poli
ties, but they are all together in
regard to the statement that the
Newnan News prints the news of
('oweta county.
Atlanta is making strenuous ef
forts to create a I’uekingtown
scandal with the Atlanta trade
mark blown in the bottle. Atlanta
wants her slaughter houses in
vestigated.
The esteemed Weakly Howell
Russell should get busy. The end
of the gubernatorial campaign
draweth nigh, and as yet that
celebrated political llounderer has
given no notice ol its intention to
carry Coweta county I'orCol. Mstill.
The right word spoken at the
right time and in the right place
never fails to help a town or city.
Newnan people should always be
prepared to speak for Newnan
words that will be lied pin I and in
spiring to the home folks, and
words that will place Newnan in
tin-strongest light before the world.
The opposition to Hoke Smith in
this county is centered in Newnan.
The News predicts that more votes
will be polled against Smith in the
Fifth than in all other districts of
the county combined. As the
Fifth is two to one for Smith
against the Held, it can readily lie
si*en that Dick Bussell has a line
show to earn Coweta county.
One of prettiest affairs of the
week was the reception Monday
afternoon given by Mrs. Victor
Mangel in honor of her chartiling
guest, Miss Henrietta Smith, of
Greencsboro. The dainty home
presented a lovely picture, in its
artistic decorations of cut (lowers
and pot plants. Misses Florence!
and Bessie Dent, in dainty white
frocks, served punch on the ve-
randa from a licatitifully decorated !
table on which was a watermelon I
from which the meat had liecn |
taken, and in its place the refresh- i
ing punch was placed. The table
in the dining room was pretty with
its decorations of red. During the
afternoon splendid Neapolitan
cream in red and white and angel
food cake was served. Mrs. Man j
get was lovely in her dainty gown
and received her guests in her
usual hospitable manner.
Miss Baby Bove.joy was the
charming hostess at a reception'
last Saturday afternoon, given in I
honor of Miss Nannalitie King, of
Gainesville. Miss Bovejoy’s lovely I
home was artistic in its decorations .
of pot plants. During the after
noon tempting sandwiches tied
with blue riblHins and refreshing
I iced tea were served. Quite a
i number of young girls were invited
and a most delightful afternoon
was spent.
Miss Martha Greene is entertain
ing four of her little cousins at a
youthful house party this week at
the residence of Doctor and Mrs.
I/. Greene. Her guests are Mar

mingham; Madge Bollock, of At
lanta; Bomnla Davis, of Henoia.

of Judge and Mrs. B. \V. Free
man this week. Mr. Mitchell, who
is one of Spalding's oldest and
most prominent citizens, was a
resident of < ’oweta county in ante
bellum days.
Miss Sarah Buchanan has a trio
of lovely visitors, Misses Susie
Barks, of Atlanta, Martha Hill, of
Greenville, and Miss Willingham,
of Macon. Miss Buchanan enter
tained a number of friends Friday
evening in honor of her guests.

in College Bark.—Tuesday’s At
lanta Journal.
Mrs. Hanna, of Bock Hill, H. C.,
who was the guest of Mrs. J. T.
Moore at the Virginia Hotel for
several days, returned to her home
last week.
The Weakly Howell-Bussell
grows sicklier and more forlorn
with the passing of each golden
summer day. The Howell-nusscll
should form an alliance with the
Boss of Oglethorpe’s boom. What
this eminent political Hopper needs
is a change of base. It has liccu
whooping for Dick Bussell too
long, and another change of candi
dates would probably cause a re
turn of former roseate hues to the
Howell Bussell’s political prognos
tications.
Misses Billie and Dc-die Brad
ley entertained at a spend-the-day
party last week at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. G. B. Bradley. Their

ed the prize, a pretty hat pin.

visited relatives in Newnan and
elsewhere in this section of the
State for some time, have returned
to their home in Bainbridge.
“Organized Democrats’’ are
secin' things day and night, and
dreaming frightful dreams and be-
striding horrible nightmares dur
ing their sleeping hours. Verily,
these lie bitter days for the little
handful of machine Hnished po
litical 1 Kisses who have long de
luded themselves with the idea
that they constitute the Democrat
ic party in Georgia. It is well to
note in passing, that these small
fellows are sustaining the “organ
ized Democracy” howl. That cry
is not coining from the mu&s of
Democratic voters, who are not
losing any sleep on account of im
pending danger to Democratic or
ganization in this State.
Miss Jennie Bet 1 Houston, for
merly a teacher in the Newnan
public schools, is now conducting
a successful school at Oak Grove
in Meriwether county.

the recent aunual meeting of
the Weekly Press Association.

the convention and pleasant

the ('arolinas and Tennessee, but

Tbe greatest clothing opportunity of the summer is now
here. If you'have an eye to economy and want a swell sum
mer suit you shouldn t fail to take advantage of the phe
nomenal values we are offering in Summer Goods. Don’t
think for a moment that the prices we are giving cover a
cheap grade of goods. Every article offered is from our
regular stock. We offer no cheap sale stuff. Why do we
cut our prices? We must clear our store of all summer
goods, We have made it a positive rule not to carry over
stock from one season to the other, and would rather take a
loss than do so. We have not space to give you prices, but
notice our windows anp you will see a few of our cut prices.
It’s to your interest to call and examine these goods.
