In the death of Mrs. L'ula McGuire Carpenter, which occurred Wednesday afternoon at her home on Greenville street, our community is called upon to mourn the loss of one of its most be loved women. About three months ago Mrs. Car penter had a severe fall, resulting in the fracture of her left hip. It was a most painful injury, and during the weeks that followed sh-suffered almost continuously. Being rather frail phy sically, some time elapsed before she recovered from the shock of the acci dent, and was then so far exhausted that her system failed to respond to treatment that might otherwise have assured her recovery. Finally, worn out from long suffering, she lost all power of resistance, and passed peace fully away, surrounded by all the loved ones of her family. Mrs. Carpenter possessed many beau tiful and lovable traits n charming hostess, polished in all the social graces that make womankind adorable, and one of the most devoted mothers the writer has ever known. She was loyal in her friendships, and no sacri fice was too great that she would not make for those who shared her love and confidence. That she will be sadly missed and widply mourned is in itself a fine tribute to her personal worth. Mrs. Carpenter was a daughter of the late Judge Terence Me- 'Guire, of Home, and was 53 years ■of age at the time of her death. She leaves four children Mth. Mildred Camp, and Messrs. J. T., Cilia M. and Julian Carpenter, all of this city. Her husband, the- late John T. Carpenter, died some years ago. A sister, Mrs. F.lla Leverett, survives her also. The funeral took place yesterday af ternoon at 3 o'clock, from I hi* residence. Services were conducted by I>r. G. A. Nunnnlly, of Home, an old friend of the family, who was assisted by Rev. Firley Baum, of Moreland, and Rev. If. I,. Edmondson, of this city. The Moral offerings were profuse and beau tiful, some of the hands imeat coming from friends in other cities. The pall bearers were Messrs. .1 S. Anderson. J. W. Bowers, Iv S. Buchanan, Mike I’owell, Sum Banks, T. B. Davis, W. C. Grace, and R. I). Cole. The inter ment was at Oak Hill. Notice, Club Giris. Mr rot t Hyde, In Charge Home Demonstration Work. In the IJ. S. District Court, at At lanta. Judge Newman on Monday last dismissed the injunction suit brought by the Western Union Telegraph Co. against the Atlanta and West Point railroad company to estop the railroad company from tuking steps to oust the telegraph compnny from its long time occupancy of the railroad’s right- of-way. This is an old case, and it is said an appeal from the decision of the District Court will be carried to the U. S. Supreme Court If Judge Newman should be sustained the railroad com pany will be empowered to cut down the poles and wires of the telegraph company, and the latter will be forced to obtain a new right-of-way for its lines. by lr*nl ip[ilicatif>' *». as they enrnot r**arh the dif*l«Ked portions of the par There i only one way to cur*' «atarrhal deafness. and that in by a constitutional remedy.
