Mr. Ernest Hembree is spending some time with his brother, at Itoscoe. Masters Lis n and Pressley Park spent the week-end with relatives at Grant- ville. Misses Ada Mae anti Ethel Hanks were guests of their sister, nearSharps- bure, for severaj dBys laet week. Mr. Paul Phillips, of Palmetto, was a Sunday visitor in our community. Mr. and Mrs. Bill West were guests Sunday of the latter’s sister, Mrs. J. C. Garner, at Fife. Mr. L. B. Banks spent the week-end at the home of his brother, Mr. W. L*. Banka. Mr. Frank Eberhart, of Palmetto, visited friends here Sunday. Mr. Joe West, of Atlanta, spent Tuesday at the home of Mm. Alien West. Little Lucile Vineyard, from near Sharpaburg, was the guest of I.etha and Florence Banks for several days last week. ' i, . We regret to report thtit Miss Naomi Coggin, who has been quite ill, is no better at this writing. Mr. Dewey Phillips is visiting friends here this week. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Ranks, of More land, spent Thursdny and Friday with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hembree. Mr. and Mrs. W. f>. Banks were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Vineyard, near Sharpaburg. Our Sunday-school was largely at tended Sunday. Hereafter the ix- ercisea will begin at 2:J!0 p. m., and all visitors are welcome. On the first Sunday afternoon in November Bro. Dimmock, of Carrollton, will give a talk to the Sunday-school. He will speak also nn Saturday night before. ’ There will be an oyster supper at the school-house on Saturday night, Nov. Arthur Lasseter, spent Sunduy afternoon with friends in Newnan. Mr. “Nig” Mooney, of Newnan, was in Whitesburg Sunday night. Mr. Bernard Copeland and sister spent Sunday with relatives at Rom-oe. Mr. Loyd DuniHn, Dr. Glenn Mullins and Mr. Bemurd Copeland visited friends in Carrollton Sunday evening. Mr. Bird Parks and family, of New nan, were in Whitcaburg Sunday after noon. Mr. Dave Duncan spent Sunday af ternoon in Newnan. Mr. J. M. Stevens will move to Car rollton soon. Rev. J. W. McLeod and wife spent Saturday in Newnan. A lot of wheat and oats will be sown in bur section this fall. Messrs. Harry Rooks, Ben Strickland, Bernard Copeland, Loyd Duncan and Roy Holloway will attend the fair in Griffin to-morrow. Miss Tommie Lou McDonald visited relatives at Newnan Saturday. Prof. 3. S. Morton returned Thurs day from South Georgia, where he had been looking after his farming inter ests. The box sup|>er held herp for the ben efit of the parsonage at Turin was a success, the proceeds being fur above expectations. Mary Ray School will open for the fall session on Monday next. Witcher and family one day last week. Oct. 27th. LONE OAK. (Brought over from last wcok.) Mrs. Fid Walthall and children, who were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Clyatt, were greeted by their many friends at Prospect church Sun day. Miss Ruth Nall, of Newnan, and Miss Hilda Justiss, of Cruntville, escorted by Mr. Aldee Nall, came out from Grnnt- ville to preaching Sunday morning. Miss Margaret Herring, accompanied by Mr. Sam Lambert and his sister, Mies Lucile, spent Sunday afternoon with Lone Ouk relatives. Mrs. W. P. Sewell was called to Barnesville last Saturday by the fatal illness of Mr, J. Lee Sewell, of that place. Mr. Sewell loft Sunday for Tal- button, at which place the funeral of his brother was to take place that af ternoon. Mr. Marvin Sewell, of Newnan, was mingling with Lone Oak kindred and friends Monday. Messrs. H. L. Culpepper, J. L. Prick- ett nnd J. T. Tomer, of Lone Oak, and Mr. W. C. Culpepper, of Greenville, got an early start Tuesday morning for a through-count’-y trip to Macon, where they are attending the Masonic Grand Lodge. Litt.e Evelyn, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Culpepper, who wns se riously ill last week, is much better. Quite a number of school children have been affected with severe colds, but the bright weather of the past few days is acting as a restorative. It is reported that the boll weevil has appeared in the Lone Oak community, on the farm of Mr. J. T. Turner. ' The fourth quarterly meeting of the Grantvillo and Lone Oak charge will be held at Prospect to-morrow morning. As this meeting is the last at which this church will be favored with the presence of Rev. W. L. Pierce as pre siding elder, it evokes a special degree of interest. So, also, last Sunday’s ser mon from the pastor at Prospect was his last for tha present conference yoar; but his congregation here earnestly hope that he will be returned to this charge. The recent rains, followed by glo rious sunshine, have given the fall gardens a luxuriance of verdure, and string beans, turnipB, and line Irish potatoes, fresh from the soil, are com mon to the dinner table. Cotton fields are green, but almost despoiled of the fleecy staple. Oct. 27th. MT.
