neral of Rev. J. M. Haisten at Mt.
Carmel last Monday.
Mrs. W. P. Addison left for Ce-
dartown Monday, where she will visit
her parents.

spending awhilo with Dr. G. W. Bur
nett.
Mr. W. T. Jones made a business
trip to Atlanta last Thursday.
Mr. Jumis A. Luaaetter, of Atlanta,
apont Sunday in Whitesburg.
Mr. Mack Walker, who has been con
fined to his bed from an attack of ap
pendicitis, is able to be out again.
Mr. Jess Trapp is visiting in Jack-
eon this week.
Miss Gladys Johnsun, of Carrollton,
was the guest of Miss Annice Whatley
the past week.
The Ladies' Aid Society of the Meth-
,odist church served oysters, chocolate
. and cake at the city hall last Saturday
from 12 noon until 9 p. m., for the
- benefit of the church.
The Georgia Railway and Power Co.
has recently lighted our town with
.electricity.
Mr. Cliiud Reevps, of Mt. Zion,
visited friends here Tuesday.
Messrs. Roger Bryant and J. B.
Hutchens, of Newnan, made a business
trip to our city Tuesday.
Mrs. Ann Jones, mother of Hon.
Pope Jones, of Riverside, died Sunday
afternoon at fi o’clock. Her remains
wore carried to Atlanta Tuesday for
interment.

Whooping cough is interfering
our school.
Mr. Henry Wood visited his sister at
Cedartnwn this week.
The most enjoyable affair of the sea
son was the valentine party given by
Mi-ses Wallace and Reid on Monday
list at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C.
Wallace. The valentine colors (hearts
and cupids) decorated the rooms. The
dining table was especially pretty with
the same colors as the decorations.
Mrs. Sara Currans has returned from
Heard county, where Bhe spent several
weeks with relatives.
We were called together Monday to
pay the last trihute of respect to our
venerable friend, Rev. J. M. Hasten,
whose death occurred at the home of
hia son Sunday evening. The remains
were laid to rest in Mt. Carmel ceme
tery. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore, of
Carroll county, attended the funeral
here Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Latimer, of
Carroll county, were guests of Miss
Brownie Wager Sunday.
Miss Maude Cavender, of Senoia,
spent the week-end with her brother,
Mr. G. L. Cavender.
Miss Tassie Reid attended the teach
ers’ meeting in Newnan Saturday.
The singing at Mr. M. L. Story’s
Sunday night was much enjoyed by
those who attended.
Mrs. T. A. Rigsby and daughters,
Cora Maie and Ollie, were guests of
Mrs. J. D. Land, in Newnan, Saturday.
Miss Tassie Reid will leave Friday
for Bremen, where she will spend the
week-end with her parents.

mill Sunday afternoon.
One of the most enjoyable affairs of
the season was the valentine party on

C. Drake, Music, games, and the
drawing of valentines were the chief
amusements.
Miss Maude Cavender and nephew,
Master Lillard Cavender, spent the
week-end with relatives at Newnan and
Sargent.
Superintendent Pendergrast called all
the teachers of the county together in
Newnan Saturday. Interesting talks
were made by Miss Dowdle, of Athens,
State Agent of the GirlB’ Canning
Clubs, Dr. Wm. Bradford, agent for
the Boys’ Corn ClubB, Mr. J. H. Black-
well, County Demonstration Agent, and
Superintendent Pendergrast.
The school at Standing Rock haB in
creased to such an extent that it be
came necessary to employ an assistant.
MiBB Ruby Burke, of Newnan, now has
charge of the primary department.
The singing at Mrs. Della Arnold’s
Sunday night was much enjoyed by
everyone present.
Mrs. J. D. Hall and!little daughter,
Mildred, spent the week-end with rela
tives at Hapevillo.

Donald, who are attending the high
school at Sharpsburg, spent the week

trict is one of our best citizens, Mr. P.
B, Vineyard. He stands well in his
