Dr. E. A. McGarity, a resident of
Newnan in the early 70’s, and well
remembered by our older citizens, died
in Atlanta on Sunday last—aged 84.

We regret to note that Mrs. Wiley
Hand has been quite sick for several
days. She was 86 years old Sunday,
and is a remarkable woman for one of

Miss Mary Penlston, young daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Peniston, was the
fortunate winner of the $1,500 gold
prize in the Atlanta Journal’s contest,
which closed Saturday. Smaller prizes
were won by several Newnan people in
the same contest.

There will be no surplus of Buick
cars this year. They built 44,600 last
year and sold their output by May 1.
They will build 81,000 this year, and
will lack enough cars by one-third to

died Saturday and was buried at Piney
Woods church, near Rico, Sunday morn
ing with Masonic honors. Deceased
was a brotber-fn-law of Dr. and Mrs.
A. A. Barge, of this city.
