Why You Should Buy a Buick Car!
Who makes the best car for the money? This question is in the mind of every prospective automobile purchaser, no matter who lie or she may be; and every
automobile salesman, no matter what he is selling, claims this great advantage for his car.
Now, there is one thing certain, and that is, we all cannot have the greatest automobile value, as long as the human factor is to be considered in the design and
manufacture of automobiles. Motor car manufacturers differ, insomuch as every individual differs. In every line of business one concern predominates in its special
field, just because one man has capabilities that the other does not possess. If it were not for this fact, all progress in every line of human endeavor would cease to
exist, and if progress ceases, industry, and in fact life itself would cease, as everything relating to the life of man is based upon progress.
This being a fact, the statement often heard that all automobiles are good, is groundless and based on ignorance, for ALL AUTOMOBILES ARE NOT GOOD.
In fact, there are many widely advertised makes that are decidedly poor imitations of real automobiles. The general public, however, is led to believe through skill
fully written advertisements and quack selling methods that these cars are the best in the world for several hundred dollars less than anytning on the market within
its class. This happens every day and will continue just as iong as the buying public remains in ignorance as to the standard by which automobiles shou’d be measured.
Everyone connected with the Buick Motor Company absolutely knows it is the very best automobile possible to build, because we know the fountain source of
BUICK SUCCESS, which is the genius of our chief engineer, Mr. Walter L. Marr, the designer and builder of the first Buick car, and the ability of our factory organi
zation to back up this genius with efficiency, honesty and faithfulness to our slogan “When Better Automobiles are Built Buick Will Build Them,” but the
buying public knows us only as the selling merchant, and, as such, he naturally expects us to “Blow our own horn,” and sometimes puts our claims down as mere
selling chatter.
Now, it is up to us to handle the skeptical individual in a forcible way, so that he will have no doubt in his mind as to the truth of every statement we make
for a Buick Car. This is an easy matter, because we have the car that REALLY IS THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD, and every claim we make for it can be
backed up by facts, and these facts are based on a concrete foundation gained from fourteen years of mechanical and laboratory research, using always the fundamen
tal engineering principle of valve-in-head construction, therefore it is not merely a question of thinking this construction right—we know it is right, as it has proven
itself scientifically, mathematically and practically a success from its very conception in the brain of Mr. Walter L M rr, to its present perfection—the most powerful,
flexible, economical and perfectly balanced six-cylinder motor ever produced by anyone. To get this result, it not only took the idea, but it took as well a factory or
ganization capable of keeping the standard of their material and workmanship up to the highest level of excellency and efficiency. For these reasons Buick reputa
tion stands and will always stand on brains, honesty and efficiency—a reputation justly earned, and envied by the entire motor world.
COUNTERFEITS
There are a great many motors which are direct COUNTERFEITS of the Buick valve-in-head motor. The manufacturers of these imitations of course claim
their goods to be ORIGINAL and that they have maintained a corps of engineers in Europe for years, to develop a valve-in-head motor for their special use. They
are shrewd enough to incorporate into their design little changes, such as overhead CAM SHAFT, enclosed valve mechanism, etc. These minor changes alter the ap
pearance of their engine and they do not look like the genuine valve-in-head motor, so they are able to get away with some of their advertising and fool the public
into believing that they really have an improvement over the Buick motor. It reallly makes no difference how they actuate their valves, or whether they put their
CAM SHAFT overhead or what not, their motor is fundamentally and actually a DIRECT COPY OF THE BUICK IDEA, if their valves are placed in the head. The
number of manufacturers, not only automobile but marine, submarine and aeroplane, which have copied our type of motor in the last five years, shows conclusively
that we were right when we started, have been right ever since, and have shown them all how a real automobile motor should be built.
BUILT FOR A PURPOSE AND NOT FOR A PRICE
Notwithstanding the fact that our motor is conceded 1o be, and is, the best yet produced, the fact still remains that without a correspondingly good transmis
sion system, frame, wheels, axles, springs and ignition apparatus, our automobile, for all general purposes, would be of little value. The Buick engineers have not
lost sight of these most important items, and have incorporated into the BUICK CHASSIS the same careful thought and research as is shown throughout our motor.
The result is, we build a car in its entirety as nearly perfect as BRAINS, MONEY AND HONESTY can make, at a price that gives the purchaser more actual dollar
for dollar value than any other automobile built and marketed to-day. There is where the HONESTY comes in; and further, that is why the Buick car will bring
more real money after years of service than any other. From an investment standpoint, that is all important, as any automobile is worth to its owner only the pleas
ure he derives from it plus its second-hand value,
OUR 1916 PRODUCT
During our fourteen years of successful manufacture of automobiles we have without a single exception built the very best automobile possible to produce, and
have always enjoyed the prosperity which comes only to those who build into their product service and honesty, but our 1916 line of SIXES SURPASSES anything
we have ever accomplished heretofore.
Economy is one of the most essential requirements in the selection of an automobile. All of our cars this year are showing marvelous results in this respect—
the D-6-45 Touring Car gives as high as 25 miles to the gallon of gasoline; the D-6-55, seven-passenger, 20 miles to a gallon. The oil consumption in both models is
approximately 700 miles to the gallon. These figures are hard to believe, but we arc actually getting this phenomenal mileage, and can refer to our customers who
will vouch for the reliability of this statement. Few, if any, four-cylinder cars can equal this record.
A good rear axle is as essential as a good motor. With this fact in mind, the Buick engineers, through years of study and experience, have developed a full
floating axle, fitted throughout with double row ball bearings, which is without a doubt the most free running, sturdy and accessible typo ever designed. By using
double row ball bearing throughout, and with our specially cut spiral gear and pinion, we reduce friction to a minimum which insures silence, long life and dependency.
A WORD AS TO SERVICE
The moral responsibility that goes with every Buick Car means something more than mere service It means that the Buick Motor Company retain a parental
interest in every car they build, throughout its natural life. Buick dealers are everywhere, Branch Houses and Di-tributors in all principal cities throughout the entire
civilized world,'where repair parts can be obtained for any Buick ever built. These Branch Houses were established for the sole purpose of giving the individual
owner Prompt and Efficient Service. Without them this would be impossible. This service follows you wherever you go and assures expert advice, carefui, efficient
workmen, and honest treatment. The Buick Creed, as printed in our catalogues, aptly describes Buick Idea of Service. If one will take the time to read it carefully
and grasp its true meaning, he will never question BUICK SERVICE for a minute.
SUPREMACY
The foregoing advantages were only made possible by our great organization, our tremendous financial resources, and the ability of the men at the HELM to
steer the Buick organization through years of “cut-throat” competition to its present entrenched position in the war of supremacy, which our competitors say is on.
If science, brains, honesty and money are to win this war of supremacy, Buick has them all beaten before they start, and is so far ahead that none can successfully
combat. Order your Car now for May or June delivery.
