dron spent Sunday nt the home of Mr.
Will Htricklnnd in Whitesburg. A family
reunion was held there, nil members of
the Doone family being present.
The infant son of Mr. nnd Mrs. Need-
ham Camp had the misfortune to break
liis collar-bone by a fall Friday night.
The little fellow was doing ns well ns
could tie expected at lust accounts. Mrs.
Comp is sick nt this writing also.
Miss Mattie Vie Summers attended
the meeting of the Foreign Missionary
Hoard nt Richmond, Vn., last week. She
passed all examinations, nml if she sue-
seeds in getting a passport will sail
for China on August 17. It is with
much regret that wo give up this conso-
crated young woman, but the knowledge
that we linvo one in our midst who is
willing to give her life for Christ in
foreign lands causes us to rejoice.
Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Sims, of Hogans-
ville, spent Sunday witli Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. McKoy.
Mrs. C. E. Wood nnd daughter, Vir
ginia, spent the week-end with Mr. nnd
Mrs. Den Houston, at Moreland. She
was accompanied home by Mrs. Mattie
Allred and Mrs. Penelope Houston.
On account of the illness of the pas
tor’s wife (Mrs. W. E. Filler) the stud
ies embraced in the H. V. P. U. man-
mil were not begun Friday . night. If
nothing prevents the class will assemble
for study next Friday night, (July 2.1.)

pleased to learn that Mrs. Fuller in bet

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY OCCASION.
A pleasant event of the past week was
the birthday party given Saturday night
by Mr. and Mrs. W. 1. Colomnn, of Fife,
for their charming niece, Miss Elsie Cav-
under, of Madras. A number of young
people wore’ present, and games nml
music were enjoyed until 10 o’clock,
when delightful refreshments consisting
of ice cream, cake ami tropical fruits
were served. One of tho prettiest fea
tures of the occasion was tho beautiful
birthday enko which decorn tod the center
of tho table, surrounded by sixteen can
dles, representing Miss (’avendor’s age.
After tho refreshments the young people
cut the cake, which enutnined a ring,
n thimble nml n dime. Mr. Ralph Har
ris found tho ring, Miss Gladys Tarploy
the dime ami Mr. J. T. Tarploy the
thimble. At a bite hour tho oompuny
dispersed, wishing Miss Cavendor many
happy returns of tho occasion.
