A luminary of tlio pension legislation
passed by tlio legislature nt its recent

W. Lindsey, Pension Commissioner, mid
limited Judge L. A. Perduo and to all
oilier Ordinaries in the State. It is ns
follows:
“A Constitutional nmandmont, to be
submitted to the iieoplu in the November
election, chnnglng tlic dnte of residence
of the Confedornto soldiers and tlieir
widows in Georgia, to lie eligible to n
pension, from Nov. 4, 1018, to .Inn. 1,
1920.
“A bill to authorise tlio Commissioner
of Pensions to allow a pension to the
widow of n deceased pcnslonor who fails
to apply to Ito put on thn pension roll
in her own right tlio yenr following hus
band 's denth: Provided, alio innkes and
(lies her application within two years
from date of her husband's dentil.
“A bill to innko tlio record of a sol
dier, ns appearing on company's rolls,
or found olsowhero in writing, as ovidanco
in lieu of witness, wlioi* witnesses nrc
dead or cannot bo found, in ruses of ap
plication for tlio invalid or disabled pon-
' sions.
“A bill to mnka eligible to a pension
those soldiors, and widows of such, who
could not, and did not for want of timo,
perform ns much ns six months’ actual
service, from the date of their enlist
ment to the close of the war on April
20, 1805.
“A bill to increase the annual pension,
after Jan. I, 1921, to all soldiers and
their widows, 828 to those who were
paid 890 and over, and to tlioHe who wore
paid less than $90 for 1920, 815, to con
tinue for four years.
"A resolution to appropriate 820,000
to pay nil those pensioners on tlio old
toll unpaid for 1920, and to pay the
Ordinaries their fees for pension work
for 1020.
“A resolution to appropriate 847,5,000
to pay those soldiers and widows of
soldiers placed on the pension roll for
1920, under what is cnllod tlio ‘now law.’
“Just when these ‘new’ pensions and
the unpaid ponsions on tlio old roll can
be paid dopomls on when lliero will bo
sufficient money in tlio Treasury thnt enn
bo usod for tills purpose. Tlio Cammis-
. slonor of Ponriana wishes this to bo done
lit the oarliest day possible, assuring all
that it will bo the pleasure of thu Gov-
- ornor to grant his warrant, tlio Comp-
(roller General to npprovo tlio warrant,
tlio Treasurer to draw bis chocks, and
thn Commissioner of Pensions to rush
these checks to tlio various Ordiuarlos,
so thnt the pensioners may bo paid the
