afternoon in compliment to Miss Katie
Dent, a popular bride-elect. Little
Misses Lnelius Stallings nud Dorothy
Platt, dressed as mnids, mot the guests
at the door and took the packages, which
contained kitchen utensils. Each guest
uIbo brought a recipe for tho brido-elect’s
cook book. Mrs. W, L. Stallings assist
ed in tho entertainment of the gueBts.
After the game an elaborate salad course
with hot chocolate was served. The ta
bles were marked with valentines, and
the scorc-enrds wore hand-painted wed

tertaining. Numerous other parties are
being planned for’Miss Dent. Miss Vir
ginia Glover gave a tea yesterday af
ternoon, to which a number of guests
were invited. On Wednesday of next
week Mrs. Clins. Arnold and Mrs. Harry
Baxter, of Grnntvillo, will givo a lunch
eon at LaGrnnge. Next Friday after
noon Mrs. Roswell Atkinson will enter
tain for Miss Dont. Misses Annie Pick
ett mid Ruth Thompson will also give
parties.
“Mrs. J. R. King entertained at. bridge
and rook on Friday morning last for
Miss Frances Lillian Arnold, a bride
elect. The house was prettily decorated
with pink carnations, sweet-peas and
nasturtiums. The honoree was presented
with a box of face powder. Mrs. Walter
HopkinB assisted in entertaining, and
at the conclusion of the guine nn elabo
rate salad course with hot coffee was
served. Guests for four tables were in
vited.
