Another old Confederate veteran ’bus nnswefrod the Inst roll-call and “crossed over the river,” Oh last ‘Friday Mr. Leandcr Banks passed away at tho home of ids son-in-law, Mr. U. .B. Pppp, nenr Moreland, following a long and distress, ing illness. Sunday afternoon his re mains were brought to Turin, where fu» nernl services were conducted by Rev. 7„ Speer, assisted by Rev. H. S. Rees, a longtime friend of deceased. At the close of the service the body of the old soldier was borne to the cemetery and laid to rest by tho side of ids wife and sons, who preceded him to the grave several years ago. Mr. Banks wns a valiant defender of the Lost Cab sc. He wns shot down on the field at Gettysburg ami left for dead, carrying with him to the grave wounds received in that awful clash of arms. Ho served one term as Tax Col lector, and was Held in high esteem 'by all who knew him. He loaves three children to mourn their loss, viz: Mr. .Ths. Banks of Turin, Mrs. Texanria Landrum of Atlanta, and Mrs. G. B. Pope of Moreland, besides a number of grandchildren. He is sur vived also by a brother, Mr. Wm. Banks, who resides near Raymond.
