The Advantage ok Printing.—Mr B , a well-known Metropolitan printer, onre told us that on < tie occasion an old woman from the country came into the printing office with an old Bible in her hand. “1 want,” said she ‘that you should print it over again. It’s getting’ a little blurred, sort of, and my eyes is not what they was. How much do you ax?’ ‘Fifty cents.’ ‘Can you have it done in a half an hour? Wish yon would —want to be getting home. I live a good way out of town.’ When the old lady went out, he sent around to the office of the American Bible Society, and purchased a copy for fifty cents. ‘Lor’ sakes a mnssa!’ exclaimed the old lady, when she came to look at n, ‘how good you’ve fixed it! I never see uothing so curious as what printer: is.’ The best application fra fresit wounds, cut, or scratch, is Darby’s PaoriiYi.ACTic Fixn\ The Atlanta Constitution is one of the ablest dailies in the .State, thor oughly Democratic in politics, conserva tive in principles, fearless in the ex posure of the Guilds and conniptions of the Radical administration, am gives all the news from different pun of the Slate and the world. Red Oak, Campbell Cos., Ga , I Oct 19th, 1871. j Dear Ffntinei.: Il is with pleasure il.ut 1 seat myself to redeem in. - prom ise made in my former communication t i you. That I may do so, I hope you will indulge me iu commencing and carrying on my sketch to the close ot my mu i alive, as 1 have it in my mind to do, assuring yon that I intend no i ijir v to be done to anyone, <;r any ex ceptionable allusions to any person. I must, however, be allowed to al lude to some three or four persons di rt etly ; and probably to as many indi rectly; but I trust that 1 may havutny speech (iu r. riting) seasoned with salt, when so alluding as above in imated. Fiist of myself, some years a.-o, I was called to lake the pastoral care of a church in Campbell county, called Mt. Vernon. This church had been a Baptist church, and stood identified with the Tallapoosa Association. It now became connected with the Chris tian church. I lived si me thirty miles from it at that time, but finally m-ao 1, and set led in their vicinity. I qoutiuo ed their Pastor but was never able to effect much in adding to tln ii nimibei 1 believe there were several causes that operated against my success.— One of ilie piir.eit.nl was, that some individuals became no nibers win- were inipi ndeut; and ns 1 concluded, pulled down luster than I could build up, anil as a consequence the Church been .:e so small and feeble that 1 (lid not think, that it was to the glory of God to con tinne my t Hurts to raise them to re spectability. In the meanwhile I eul liv.it and mi acquaint ice with the Bap list bicthicn, and after a time united wiili them For so doing, many who had been warm friends seemed to lose confidence in un-. One hi other that 1 had great esteem for iu the Methodist chinch, who now lives in Fairl.'tirn, gave me more encouragement than any oilier person that I can now cal! *o mind. Pome of my Christian breth ren tiied to get mo to vindicate myself show them ttie wbys and wherefores ..f my pioccdure. I refused, and would not go into altercation nioro than to tell them 1 was satisfied, and would not consider any remonstrance upon the subject in the way of vindi cation of myself. In the meanwhile the unfortunate war between the Ninth und South aroused the whole country, and, though I never took an active part in politics, I claimed to be a lover of my country, and prompted by my feelings, I joined the ranks of the Con s. derate soldiery, and hastened to the scene of bloody conflict where many of tne braves were made to kiss the dust. I witnessed the horrors of war I would that 1 could erase from memo ry's tablet those horrors that shock rny feelings to recall them; overwhelming numbers and resources ciushed us The south was subjugated. The con flict over, I returned to my family* and borne My premises laid bare. The fiery wheels of the war car had passe ovei and left the unmistakable maiks of desolation. No fencing, no tools, no stock, no supplies for my wife and children, rio sweet singing birds to cheer with melody of song. It seemed as if all that was desirable arid pleas ant to look upon and behold was swept away as with the bosom of destiue tion. llow disheartening to one who had passed the meridian of life, und whose physical force was now much impaired; but dispondency could not better my condition. Something must be done I remembered the saying where there is a will there will he a way, and so I have found it with much anxiety and exertion. I have honora bly been enabled through the kindness of an overruling Providence to meet the exigensies. A. B. F. Brigham Young —Accompanied by a number of elders, appeared at court ttiis afternoon and was held to bail in five thousand dollars to answer.— lie passed through the court room alone. Many hats were removed and expressions of respect shown, but no shouts nr noisy demonstration. liis appearance bes o r e Judge McKean was quiet and dignified, but he seemed evidently very feeble. The officers of the comt showed him all kindness, providing a large easy chair aud keep ing the ciowd at a distance. The counsel of Brigham first put in a plea of abatement, which was over ruled. The next movement was to quash the indictment on tin ground of the indictment i*i iiineruting sixteen separate charges in alleging that lit* lasei' i> usly cohabited with sixteen i fieri nt women. During the nrgu ieiit (iii this question Brigham retired, --(nested for if fence will continue (.faking to this motion to-m .row— (.veiything quilt to-night, although multitudes of exciting rumors are in circulation.
