ger\ —Bine# my last letter, there
has twen a change in the wenther,
winder has given way to balmy
spring, and the farmers are eeen at
work on every side toiling to get in
their spring crops.
At the time of our writing there
is but little corn planted, tut the
majority of the farmers will com
mence this week. Corn is planted
hero hy machinery, instead of
marking off their corn grouud.tbey
us* the check-rower which both
plants and check* the corn at the
same time. Cioi s are planted la
ter hero, but mature as aarly aa in
Georgia.
Thera are no full sown cals here,
but the spring oat* look well.
Tho trees are ju»t beginning to
put on the appearance of spring;
the greet is gneu and everything
looks lovely.
The ecenerv ie more picturesque
hero than in Georgia, ft* the coun
try is moally prkirie, and not much
timber to bound ones view. There
is a plenty of timber, however, for
fuel and fencing purposes, The
. fencing hero Is mostly wire end
I usage orange (hedge). Wood i*
only u*ed for cooking, as n general

much cheaper than wood.
Iu ipuakingof this country,! do
not main that it ie a fiat country,

The wind blows harder and more
constantly thau in Georgia. In
tliia community there ie uu* gdst
mill propelled by wind power It*
capacity i* one hundred huehol of
corn per day.
The wheat at the present looks
well. Harvesting commences here
about the 15ih of June. Instead
of using the craJle, the farmers
use the self hinder, a great saving
iu behklf of the farmer.
The rO*d* are worked hrre
mostly hp taxation, each man
over 21 is required to work three
days each year, the remaiuder by
taxation. Il* in* this a great ad
vantage over the launr si stem.
Where the farmers of Walker

make tbeir's from cattle,hogs, corn,

Certain o.<l Things are Dona Away,
111 the gener.il reception room of tha
Western Union Telegraph building on
Broadway, Hew York, are exhibited
the coarse, crude aiul clumsy instru
ments of the infancy of the telegraph.
They are only reties now. More parr
feet machinery has superseded them.
Years ago what is now styled the
old-fashioned porous plaster did some
good service. There was then noth
ing better of the kind. New all that
is changed. Science and study have
gone deeper into- the secrets of medi
cine and produced BESHOS’S CAP
CINE POROUS PLASTER?, which
embodies all the excellencies thus far
possible in ail external remedy. The
cld plasters were slow- the C&pclue i
rapid; they were uncertain —the Cap
due is sure. Cheaper articles bear
similar names. Be careful, therefore,
that some ih’itty druggist does uot de
ceive you. In the centre of the gen
uine is cut the word CAPCIN'K.
