Another yout g man from the

Saturdsy to take part in the above.
An hour’s wheeling down the b ve
ly Duok Cr«ek Valley, brought us
to Rev. WiliiHin Shaltuck’s. We
were highly entertained for a half
»n hour by his hospi.'ahle fiuiily,
while waiting for some of our party
to guttier. A short drive from
ti ence brought us to the foot of the
mountain. Quite a number pr«-
ferrsd to make the two mile ascent
on foot to ej >y the scenery.
About half way up, we lingered
awhile where the cold air was
bursting forth from a fissure in the
rocks. Then after a I ok at the
toautiful valley Mow, we proceed
ed. And now the pedes'rians h*
gan to realize what effort it tcok to
go up hill. But at lust the brow
was rcucheJ, and a good mineral
spiing was found, wailing to
quench our thirst. Getting inti
our conveyances, wo were soon go
ing belter >kelter over hill and
dale, along P e ton ol the moun
tain, till »e came tc another spring
in the edge of Rock Town. Here
we pitch id our tents. A table was
soon urrtnged out of lung hewed
logs, while some wire resting,some
making lemonade, soma gracing in
the huckleberry (rttchea, others ar
rang'd for tbeuoon-dsy mesl. The
anuounc.'meut tbit it was ready
soon brought us around a di iner
ttirt had been gotten up hy the
skillful and tasteful ludies of Buck
Creek Valley. Ft would havedan*'
honor to b King’s paluce.
Dinner over, We began to ram
ble among the gigantic, craggy
hea led rocks, that shrined the'
trees by their towering height.
Some resembled massive bui'dinge
w’th towers "n top. some looked
like mom tail f some like huge h»l
--looi s, pyramid*, or inverted Beg
men's of a cone. We passed along
the nilsns hy the hugh walls, un
der the large arcliiSi through the
chambers and csvilhs.sll of which
were cui veil and trenched, ns if
floods of water had flowed over
them for ages.
But the sun was sinking in the
West, and it was time to retrace
our staps We turned our ficis
homeward, a'l feeling well paid for
the excursion. R B 8.
