the church and placed in tlie Grove,
where the gifted Dr. Ryals, who hia
been made professor of Theology in
Merc«r University, preached. At
the Methodist Chur.ih the venera
ble and belored Dr. DeVotie filled
the pulpit. In the grove the col
lection amounted to 920 03. At
the Methodist Church between
thirty and forty (’ollars were given.
The total oontribuiiona the present
year exceed those of last year about
hundred dollars, while the mem
bership lias risen from seventeen
hundred and fifty to something ov
er two thousand.
After dinner, many from a dis
tance were homeward bound.
But of the large gathering, enough

The notable event of tho week

day morning, between half past

ered snd half past eight, whrn it

Over a million dollars worth of

ence in that short time. The
house itself with its four hundrtd
