For Walker County Mavenger:
Mr. J L Meal, an elder of LaFay
ette Pjeshyterian Church’ request
ed the Session of the church to meet
and appoint a committee to inves
tigate the truthfulness of a rumor
in circulation in regard to his mor
al character. The Session met,
Aug. 10th, and appointed Bros. W.
O. McWhorter ami W. F. MeWhor
ter. a committee to Investigate the
rumor. Yesterday, Aug. 31st, that
coinmitte made their report to the
Session. The following is that re
port, viz: “After careful investiga
tion of the evil rumor in circulation,
of J. L. Neal, an Elder of this
church, we find that the accusing
party is not only of bnse character,
hut is untruthful. Also we learn,
that the family to which the accus
ing party belongs, had fallen out
with Bro. Neal, because he insi-ted
on their doing more work in the
crop. Wherefore in our judgment,
we believe it to be a malicious and
groundless accusation, and there
fore request that this report Ire read
at-divine service by the pastor.”
Tito report was received and adopt
od.
It was then resolved, “That this
report be seut, to tho Walker Coun
ty Messenger for publication.”
