Saturday there was a meeting of
the directors of the Rome & Chat
tanooga li. It., held at Trion. There
were present, the President, I). F.
Allgood, Judge Branham, 11. P.
Lumpkin, John Maddox, Chits. E.
Smith and Hines Smith. The
question under discussion was the
building of a narrow gttage road
from Trion to Rome. * The estimate
of the engineer was that the grad
ing would cost $50,000. Rome hav
ing agreed to make her subscription
equal to that of Chattooga, the
President stated that Chattooga
would would subscribe 830,000,
which would give tlie company
SOO,OOO, with which to begin opera
■ tions. Tlie decision of the Board
was to begin the work of .grading
without delay. In the hands that
it is now in, the building Os the road
is a certainty. Once built to Trion,
Chattantxiga will see that Iter
own interests are not neglected, and
will promptly complete it.
