The oldest son of Judge J C
Fain of Calhcun, Milton, a young
man of vigorous health, died on
Wednesday the 17th inst., of ty
phoid fever The Judge had ad
journed his regular session of the
Superior Court of Dade County on
account of his illness. His son
was unusually gified uiid of unex
ceptionable morals. His death is'-i
very heavy blow to his tamily.
Mr. Ballinger, though s'ill feeble
has been out once or twice lor a
short drive with some one of his
friends The worst thing he could
do.if he wishes to recover his health
permanently, wou'd be to go back

Mr. Whitlow found him absent
from the field, but thought nothing

hours. After euvii g the field he
goes to the barn, takes a heavy

hangman's knot. For fcir that the
rope might be too long, he short
ens it by tying a knot in it. After
olimbirig up on the joist, he re
moves his hat. tins his suspenders
over his head and under bis jaws,
and his handkerchief over his face,
and then, without one word of
farewell, lakes the fatal leap. His
sad death is regie'ted by all who
knew him. H«- wag sober, steady,
industrious and reliable; and was
tbe mainstay of his old parents.
I will not buy any bale cotton
until further noline, but will buy
a'l ibs cotton that I gin. Will run
eight gins this season.
