DALTON GA.
The Dalton boom has obtained
c.on»idol able shape since our li ft
writing. A kind ol mass meeting
was held iu which eminent speaker
both of this place and from abroad
thrilled tho people with eloquent
allusion to the DBton that is to be.
Dullon is one of tun qnitcet, health
iest towns in North Georgia, and if
by public meeting, bras* band
■treat pared s, or any other land
able auxiliaries the town can be
brought to the front as a commer
cial centre, we say "‘Lot 'or roll."
Butwusboult never 1030 sight of
one goldon truth, viz; That every
town on the W. & V. Bail Road
and all ovor the South cannot be
come a Birmingham or Ch i tanoo
ga. But the *act is, human na
ture wi.l out. Wl.en Sam Jones
* arted on anew liue and attracted
such wide attention, every little
fellow from North Carolina to Tex
as tried to metamorphose himself
uto a Sain Jones.
Tba C..erckeo Furniture Factory

coramcdioustlian the old onewlucn
was destroyed by fire. JNow lets
have the car shed rebuilt.
The Methodist people ave going
lo have a nice edifice when
the repair* ou.ui rattier the re
buildiug of the old house is com
pleted.
The Episcopalians have almos:
the finest building site iu the city
upon which tkoy will probably iu
the near iutme build a very state y
edifice.
Rev. Mr. Turner has been ap

Presiding Kld u, lljv. Hugu Boyd.
The fsmiles of Rev. T. H Trip

J. 11. Duun some time back,
writing, i.a we uuderatan from
Ludville Ga , where he now pur
ports to be, published a “defeuci’’
in the Citzen of this place iu which
he denies the fulsome cQa' go all
eged against him at the time of his
mysterious exit from Dalton. We
never chronicled those ruiuos lor
the Me* em.kh until they had al
ready appealedm part or in whole
in the Chattanooga Times, in one
or both the Da.ton papers and in
the A'e SoxaHU An I now if Mr.
Dunn can exonerate biuuelf from
| the vile nud slanderous charges
| which filled the air in Dal'.ou for
! days before w e wrote the “Dunn-
I Puree 1 Scandal," tbeu ao one will
more rca 'ily, or more g'adly, her
ald the pood new* to the people of
Walker County, than your humble
correspondent. But until be can
produce something a little more
authentic than a wholesale and retail
“donial"of tie charges against him
Die good people of Dalton will
still believe that so nethingis dead,
up the branch. Or if he will plead
guilty i-'id lead a new life, I for
one of his old, familiar personal
friends, will share in the general
Joy over his reformation.

Monday morning, the 18th inst.,
we hid a storm in the Cove. It
di maged Antioch Baptist Church
considerably. It blew about half
of the roof off and the son .h gable
end fell in, crushing the ceiling
and flooring in, and mashing every
thing bei'oro it. Tne enterprising
men of our village su'd: “Go to
work an 1 repair the damage at
once.” Tho brick work and put
ting on of the rtof will be done in
a few days. The storm also blew
down a barn on C. W. Kvitt’s
farm, injuring M B. Crow’s horse
and o iw. It also unroofed a
kitchen for R. C. Johnston. A
g-cd <le.d of fencing and timber
were blown down The course of the
storm was from south west to
north east.

Our oldest child, now six year of age,
when an infant six mouths old, was
attacked with a virulent, rnali rnaut skin
disease. All ordinary remedies failing,
we called our family physician, who
attempted to cure it; but it spread
almost incredibly, until the lower por
tion of the little fellow’s person, from
the middle of his back down to his knees,
was one solid rash, ugly, painful, blotch
ed, and malicious. We liail no rest at
night, no peace by day. Finally, we
were advised to try the . uticura Rem
edies. The effect was simply marvell

cure was wrought, leaving the little fel

though he had never been attacked.
