HIGH POINT
Obscurity Not a Democrat
But He Must Hurrah
for Hoke
The election is over and out of
the result* problems have been born.
Hon. Mose Wright has been defeated
by Hon. Gordon Lee in the race for
representative from the 7th Georgia
Congressional District. Judge
Wright's defeat was not a result of
the people's lack of confidence in
his ability. No one ever questioned
the superior ability as a Joist,
statesman and legislator, of Judge
Wright. Judge Wright’s moral
character is spotless, bis splendid
gifts as an orator equalled by few
men in the nation.
People not acquainted with the
situation will ask, “If what you say
is true why this sweeping defeat
ot Mr. Wright?" To those who are
familiar with the situation the prob
jjemi? <?f easy solution. Not far
back in the past the territory com
posing the 7th District waa popu
lated almost exclusively of rock
ribbed, ironclad, uncompromising
adherents of the doctrines of the
Democratic party. In this school
Mr. Wright got his political educa
tion; upon the foundation of demo
cratic traditions is fixed as firmly as
the rocks of old Gibraltar. No llex
ibiliiy in his make-up, when you
touch his political faith.
The last decade has brought about
wonderful changes in the political
status of Nortwest Georgia. Hut
few of the champions of old-time
democracy are left to defend the old
fort. Mose Wright is a worthy
scion of that old stock. With him
and about him has sprung up an
electorate born and schooled in an
entirely dillereat political faith. No
man will question Judge Wright’s
splendid ability to £IJ with honor
and ability any office within the gift
of the people.

Many LaFayette People Have
i Done So
When the kidneys are sick they
give unmistakable warnings that
should not be ignored. By examin
ing the urine and treating the kid
neys upon the first sign of disorder,
many days of suffering may be saved.
Sick kidneys expel a dark, ill smell
ing urine, full of “brickdust" sedi
ment and painful in passage. Slug
gish kidneys cause a dull pain in
the small of the back, headaches,
dizzy spells, tired, languid feelings
and frequently rheumatic twinges.
Doan's Kidney Pills are for the
kidneys only; they cure sick kid
neys, and rid the blood of uric
poison. If you suffer from any of the
above symptoms you can use no bet
ter remedy.
LaFayette people recommend
Doan’s Kidney Pills.
J. C. Wardlaw, Main St, LaFay
ette, Ga , says: “I had the most acute
pains in my kidneys and felt tired
and worn out nearly all the time.
The kidney secretions were scanty
and highly colored, plainly showing
that my kidneys were disordered. I
could find nothing that would give
m<s relief until I learned of Doan’s
Kidney foils and procured a supply
at Warthen’s Drug Store. I was sup
prised and gratified with the results
of their use. In a remarkably short
time I was cured and I have been
free from kidney trouble up to tbfo
time."

HONOR TO W. L. MAGILL
PAID BY NEIGHBORS
Funeral of Chattanooscan
Who Died In San Francisco
Held Saturday
The funeral services over the re
mains of the late W. L. Magill, whose
sudden death in San Francisco last
week was a shocking announcement
to the people of this city, were held
Saturday morning in the lecture
room of the new Presbyterian church,
McCallie avenue and Douglas street,
at 10:30 o’clock.
Mr. Magill occupied a high place
in the estimation of his feliow citi
zens of Chattanooga, attested amply
by the large audience present at the
church as a tribute to his memory,
He was a successful business man of
large experience, honest and correct
in all his transactions, and there
fore stood in the highest regard of
the business public. As a man he
was esteemed for his Christian
character and his high ideals of
cleanliness and probity in his private
life. As a citizen he was constant
and conscientious in the discharge
of all] his duties, realizing his re
sponsibilities (o his state, county
and his city, and at all times ap
preciating such individual account
ability, as each man ought to rec
ognize, to his neighbor for the
kind and quality of social and civil
order he was living under. AH of
these high qualities were attested by
those who were present to add a
tribute to his memory. The church,
the business bodies, his coworkers
for Chattanooga, citizens and people
of all walks in life were there to pay
their respects to the memory of a
good man.
Dr. T. H. McCallie delivered the
funeral address, which was in all
respects appropriate, consolatory to
the friends and family of the de
ceased, and persuasively admonitory
to all.
A; the close of the sermon and
the rendering of a familiar hymn,
the body was taken to Forest Hills
cemetery, where it was interred.—>

Visits Old home In Forsyth
W. G. Hunter and wife, of Cooper
Heights, returned last Saturday
from a ten days visit to Mr. Hunter’s
old borne in Forsyth county, making
the trip through the country. Mr.
Hunter stopped at the Messenger
office Saturday morning to get the
election news and was gratified that
his neighbor, J. V. Johnson, had
been chosen to a place on the board
of roads and revenue.
Mr. Hunter says the distanoe to
hia old home is about one hundred
miles and he much prefers to take
the two days drive rather than to
take the quicker trip on the train.
