Are Drugs Necessary?
Do Drugs Cure Disease?
Can Nature be Assisted?
If people were bo n r’ght end after
wards lived right, there would bo no
•ae for medicine. Every doctor know*
this. So do other well-informed people.
Ono thing more. V. hen a per eon Uvea
errongly.or acquires l>odily weekneee by
heredity, medleino can do only very
little. Medicine cannot cure him. Only
charlatans claim that medicines will
cure disease. Medicines may palliate
symptoms. Medicines may nrge the
powers of Nature toresist disease. Med
icines sometimes arouse tho efforts of the
human body to right Itself against de
rangements. This is the most that med
icine can do.
A man accidentally puts his finger In
the fire. Instinctively he wots bis
Unger ir 1 month, then blows on it
for the t * jig effect. This Is no cure.
He knows it very well. IJnt It makes it
feel better for tho time being.
People eat unwisely. This produces
dyspepsia or indigestion. Tho only
rational euro is to eat correctly. Yet if
a palliative Is at hand the pains of indi
gestion can lie mitigated, tho throos of
dyspepsia assuaged. The medicine can
not lie said to have cured. It stmply
palliates disagreeable symptoms. Tho
cure must come through right living.
Take Peruna, for Instance. No ono
claims Peruna is ft enro for dyspepsia,
llut Peruna will stlmulato tho stomach
to perform its fnnetton properly. Poru
na will increase the flow of digestive
fluids, without whic.h digestion cannot
be carried on at all. It will increase the
relish of food, tho sppetito.
It is admitted that ail this can be
accomplished by right living, but there
areao many people who either will not
or do not know how loeatcorroctly that
a tremondoua amount of good can bo
done by tho wise use of Peruna.
A stomach that has been frequently
abused performs the function of diges
tion very lastly. Such a stomach allows
the fodd to remain undigested for somo
time after it is swallowed. This leads
to fermentation of tho food. Sour stom
ach U the result. Thla goes on week
after week, until the blood is polroned
with the products of fermentation. This
condition is very apt to product) rheum
atism.
It is not claimed that Peruna will cure
rheumatism. Notbl >g will cure rheum
atism but correct living. But it is
Helmed that Pernna will assist a badly
abused stomach to j>i rform its work. i

If a person would correct his habits,
persist in right eating and temperate
ways, undoubtedly the stomach would
right itself, the blood would rid itself of
the poison, and everything would be
right. But as said before there are a
multitude of people who will not or can
not adopt right methods of living. To
each people Peruna is a boon. A dose
before meals will assist the stomach to
do Its work. This prevents fermenta
tion of tho food, brings about normal
digestion, and all the train of Ills that
follow Indigestion disappear.
In other words, Peruna Is helpfnl to
those who lire badly, or those who
have acquired some chronle weakness.
Pertinadoes not cure, bot it assists the
powers of Naturo to bring about aenre.
Tho whip does not Increase the power
of tho horse to pull a load, but Judi
ciously used it stimulates tiie horse to
uso his powers at the right time, with
out which ho could not have pulled the
load.
This Illustrates the effect of Peruna,
or any other good remedy upon the sys
tem. Taken at the right tlme.it calls
forth tho powers of tho human system
to meet the en roachments of disease,
and thus outs short, if not entirely ends,
tho diseased action.
No one should ever attempt to substi
tute medicine In tho placo of right liv
ing. In the end such an attempt will
provo a disaster, llut an occasional uss
of tho right medicine at the right time
is a godsend, and no reasonable person
will undertake to deny it.
Those who know how to use Pernna
find it of untold value. By and by tha
world will got wise enough so that
through correct living no medicine at
all will bo needed. But that time has
not arrived. In the meantime, while
the world is approaching that perfec
tion In which all i ledlclne will he elim
inated, Peruna is a handy remedy to
have in the honse.
Slight doruigun enta of tho stomach;
slight catarrhal attacks of the liver, tha
throat, bronchial tubes, lnngs or Ikjw
els; those attacks are aura to lead to
grave diseases, ai d nan be averted by
the judicious use of Pernna.
Wouldn’t yon like to read a few un
solicited testimonials from people who
have used Peruna, and who stand ready
to confirm tho a> ova statement* con
cerning it. If so, address the Peruna
