Vicious Horse Attacks Boy
—Two Things Os Which
Walker Should Be Proud
LaFayette, Rfd. 2, Nov. 2 —There
were two things that happened last
week which Walker county ought to
feel proud of. First, that a Walker
county boy has been elected Grand
Master of Masons of Georgia,’ Hon.
Geo. M. Napier, of Monroe. No
better man or truer Mason lives in
Georgia; a Christian gentleman. I
hope and should rot be surprisei if
he would some day soon be asked to
take the next highest chair in the
state, the tof the Governor of the
state. He would make a good
one.
The next event that Walker ought
to feel proud of was the county fair.
It was signal success, anyway. On
Friday there were more people in
LaFayette than any of the older
people ever saw there at one time
and good order prevailed through
out the day. The exhibits were
very fine and well displayed. The
prizes were all awarded satisfactor
ily, as far as I have heard. I will
have more to say on the fair later on
and will talk about the 1911 fair.
A near fatal accident occurred at
the McDonald X-roads last Saturday.
H. A. Evans’ little buy went into
the horse lot, where one of Mr.
Evans horses was eating bay, and
went near the horse. The horse bit
one of the little boy’s ears nearly off.
Mr. Evans carried his boy to La
Fayette and bad the ear dressed. I
don’t know who the doctor was that
dressed the wound The boy is do
ing nicely and will soon be well a
gain, minus a small nip out of the
ear.
Well, on Friday we had all sorts
of weather, sunshine and snow, but
Saturday uight we had as bL a
frost as I think I ever saw. Say,
boys, you can dig your sweet potatoes
now and gather your corn. If we
have ten days of sunshine all the
cotton will be opened and nearly all
picked out. Let us get ready for
winter now.
