day afternoon for a visit to the lat

Roy Adams, a local harbor, reports
he had roasting ears out of his gar
den last Thursday. He claimj to be
the earliest bird of the reason on
corn.

Fred Srite, his mother and Miss
Mary McCurdy left Monday on a mo
tor trin to points in Georgia, Ala
bama, Mississippi, Louisana and
New Mexico. Mrs. Srite expects to
visit her brother, Jno. Garber in
New Mexico, and also Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Shaw. Miss McCurdy will visit
her grandmother in Texas while
on the trip. The parly will be gone
about two months.

Col. J. P. Shattuck Thursday after
noon, indicate that he is sinking, and
no hopes are now entertained for
his recovery.

The infant daughter of Mr. and

who died last Friday was buried

on the lawn of the Kensington Meth
odist church next Tuesday evening
at 7:30 o’clock. The proceeds will be

Miss Mary Jewell Mize left last
Friday for Athens, Ga, where she
will attend the Summer Teachers’
Course at the University of Georgia.
Miss Mize stopped off in Rome and
Atlanta enroutc to Athens, for the
week-end.
Friends of R. A. Whatley, who
underwent an operation for appen
dicitis at a Chattanooga hospital
Wednesday, will be delighted to
learn that he withstood the opera
tion splendidly, and his condition
Thursday morning was reported
very favorable.
C. B. Hall and Miss Grace Styles,
both of Kensington, were married
last Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’-
clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
L. H. Strickland. Rev. 8. R. Tucker
officiated. Only a few close friends
and relatives were present. Mr. and
Mrs. Hall are at home to their
friends at Kensington.
There will be a working out of
the Payne’s Chapel cemetery on Fri

reported to be rapidly recovering.

Stewart Wright received a very
flattering offer from a firm in Atlan
ta Several weeks ago, and he and
family moved to the Capital City
several days ago, where they will
reside. Their host of friends here
and in the county regret that they
have left LaFayette and the county,
but their good wishes follow them
to their new field of labor.

W. C. Evitt, of Kensington, and the
groom is the popular pastor of the
Chickamauga Methodist circuit.
Happy felicitations are extended the

MRS. A. B .RAINEY DIED
AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS
Summerville, Ga. June 20.—Mrs. A
B. Rainey, aged 31, of Savannah, Ga,
died this afternoon al 3:30 at the
home of her parents Dr. and Mr*.
R. D. Jones, of this place, following
a lingering ilness. Funeral service*
were held Tuesday afternoon at »
o’clock from the Summerville Pres
byterian church, the Rev. R. H. Orx.
pastor officiating. Inter neat was ia

is survived by her husband, «v»rento
