Saturday A Good Day For Prog

The. overwhelming vote for S4OO,
SO of road bonds l or the roads of

in civet ion that expressed the
-spirit of progress of the people
«f our greaf county.
Walker now finds herself in the ■
Ist «f other progressive counties
wfwi have tukcn this great for

iktud issue will mean to Walker
«i*n<y people can hardly be rea
p'd. When the people understood j

rs the success of the issue.
The commissioners will rush

bonds in order that the money I

The LaFayette Chamber r

| i ‘ Righteousness Exalteth A
|! Nation”
,j Now that the Sheriff’s race is
‘ over, it behoOvea every lover of
law and order in this county, to
i actively support the officers in the
,j discharge of their duty, even more
I determinedly than they have in
! the past in order to suppress
1 crime and mold a strong, positive
sentiment for law and.ord'T.
'j Law and order is the sentiment
.of the people of this county, and
I'the time has come when that sen-
I tirnent must be made felt in every
l! section and in every community.
The bootlegger and illicit distiller
must go. He can he put out of
commission and the forces of the
law and order must be active in
bringing him to justice. The peo
ple and the officers can do it if
they want to and will put forth
the effort. The man who says it is
none of his business to see that the
law is enforced, views citizenship
in the wrong light. It is our busi
ness as citizens of an enlightened
county to guard the paths of
wrong and make cerfairi the paths
of right in order that our homes,
our children and our county may
be safe. Passivity is the bane of
i righteousness and we must come
to the conviction that means ac
tion that the bootlegger, the illic
it distiller and the law breaker
cannot rule this county, but rath
er peace, and law and order must
reign for our own protection and
happiness as well as for that of
our children and the coming gen
eration.
Let us as good citizens strength
en the arm of the law and create
in this county a love and rever
ence for the law, and make it
known that every man in Walker
county will have a fair chance to
make a living and follow his trade
'or profession in the security of
peace and law.
Let us reconsecrate ourselves to
the noble arts of true citizenship,
and be active forces for righteous
ness that exalts a people, and fight |
against the enemy of lawlessness
that would break down our ideals
and make shipwreck of our splen
did civilization.
How much better citizens we
'all would be and how much we
could all do, if we woifld just
'think a little iu terms of commun
ity improvements, and do what
we can for these institutions and
movements in our communities
that- mean better things for the
! people who live there.
Walker's increase in popula
tion the past leu years entitles her
to another representative in the
I state General Assembly. It will
i not bo long until the world will
know that we are the best county
