SCHOOL HAS SUCCESSFUL
FOOTBALL SEASON
The football squad of Chickumau
ga High School was given a banquet
Friday evening, Dec. 15th, by the
faculty. About thirty boys who had
iiied out for the team were present
together with the Hoard of Educa
tion and other visitors.
This was the final event of Chick
amaugu's football season. A sump
tions array of food was prepared
by the senior girls. After the dis
posal of this, a brief review of Ihe
season was given by Athletic Direc
tor Leon Wiley and prospects for
next year were considered. Upon
the awarding of letters, Captain
.lack Wyatt, whose work in the

concerning the progress of the
team.
Gordon Lee Grown was elected
captain of the ’23 squad. Grown
p ayed center this year and was a
! star both on offense and defense.
> .Tack Mason was chosen alternate.
Jack has played a good game this
j season, and should be even better
by next fall.
After the election of Captain,
short talks were made by Ilev. C P
Garris, Mr Houston Jewell, Mr Tom
I Lee, Mr Ashley Jewell and Mr P’red
| Henderson. They were all Very en
thusiastic over the showing of the
teams and optimistic over next sea
son's outlook.
Chickamauga is juslly proud of
•lie record of her football team,
’•’hough the whole squad had never
played before, half of the games
played were won. What the team
Puked in experience, it made up in
delerminalion and fighting spirit.
Every fellow played hard hut clean
end in spite of losing 5 letter men
