' THE AMERICAN PRESS ASSOCIATION |
Entered al the LaFayette, Oa.
C to like lor transmission through
mails as second-class matter.
And Underwood also ran.
Use poison if you plant cotton.
Spring is here, clean-up and
paint-up.
There are some still wondering
how it was done.
The county Fair and let's make
it the biggest yet this year.
Now that the election is over
maybe the weather will get settled.
Underwood went under and Me
udoo went over—that’s the differ
•j once.
Now for the white way, which is
being sponsored by the LaFayette
Civitan Club.
After crops are layed by then
comes the state primary and gen
eral election.
The agonies of the G. O. P. must
be terrible. It is a horrible death
to be drowned in oil.
Encourage the boys and girls to
join the agricultural clubs and
then help them win out.
Getting to look like Spring.
Have you got those tools all ready
for the first dry spoil?
One dollar gets your child’s name
on the Children’s Founders Roll of
the Stone Mountain Confederate
Memorial.
Two big ideas are being promul
gated in Walker—produce cash
crops to supplement cotton, and
soil improvement.
The fanners are solociting the
active support of ull agencies to
make a suecossfol crop race this
year. Will you give them yours?
The League of Nations used to
be Warned for everything. We have
a new horse to ride now—the
Grand Oil Party and the Teapot
Dome.
1 The idea is. growing faster and
faster for pundxred chickens, cows,
and hogs. It can’t grow too fast
In Walker; the faster it grows the
t more money we will have.
The movement to plant trees a
lang well-laid out streets, being
. promoted by the Woman's Club is
'at good one. A beautiful, attract
ive town attracts people with a pe
culiar attraction.
Conservatives and wets on one
side, including Wall Street, and
progressives and drys on the other
—that’s the question in New York
on June 21th., and that’s why Mc-
Adoo will be nominated.
Os the total population of the
continental United States, 10,500,-
000 are negroes including mulat
tos; 11 million are foreign born and
23 million are native born with one
•r both parents foreign born.
The building and loan associa
tion for this community which has
just boon organized is an organi
sation for real town and commu
nity building. Consider the propo
sition seriously when presented to
you.
C. OF C. RECORD
The annual meeting of the La-
Fayette Chamber of Commerce was
well-attended last Friday night,
and deep interest was taken in the
reports and deliberations of that
body.
No great outstanding things
were noted in the annual report I
for the past year, but good steady
work was shown and quite a num
ber of smaller things were done
which amount to a year of appre
ciable progress.
Fostering the county fair again,
the movement has been put on a
sound basis, and with the co-oper
ation of the people of the county,
Walker will without doubt hold her
best fair this fall. Last year’s
event was a crowning success and
with good foundations laid a great
er and more representative fair
will be held this fall.
The Chamber endorsed the build
ing and Loan Association for this
community, and this organisation
Should make for great progress
during this year. It will encourage
new home-building and new enter
prises of various sorts. The clean
up and paint-up campaign for the
city, the white way for the public
square and other improvements of
a civic nature all came in for com
mendation and support by the |
Chamber. ,
With larger plans laid for the !
new year, this organization starts
out with a good record of achieve
ment behind it, and it is certain it
will work more mightily for the up
building of the town and county
this year than heretofore.
If you are not a member of the
chamber and live in this commu
nity, enlist your name and join
forces with the business and pro
fessional citizens of the community
in their plans for progress along
all lines.
If the boll weevil is to be whip
ped the farmer must begin now.
Get calcium arsenate and fight
him when he first appears, and
keep on fighting him. He can be
whipped and a good crop made
and this poison will help you do it.
Get it from your county agent.
