PASSENGER TRAIN
PILES UP IN HEAP
Seven persons were injured,
four cars and the locomotive de
• railed and the track torn up for
a distance |of mo<e (than jtwo
hundred feet when fast passen
ger train No; 1, westbound, was
• wrecked Monday afternoon at
J 12:20 o’clock about one mile
" from Mclntyre, twenty-nine
miles east of Macon. No one'
, was killed. The negro fireman
' sustained a broken back and
। several bruises on the head and
1 is reported in a critical condi
’ tion. Three negroes were car
ried to the Macon hospital. Their
injuries were slight. Engineer
’ John Moore, of Savannah, stuck
to his post, even until the engine
went down the embankment and
was almost buried in the mud.
‘ He escaped with only slight
’ bruises. The direct cause of the
wreck is unknown, but it is be
lieved that the train was going
very fast and struck a soft place
’ 1 in the track, when the engine
gave a plunge and jumped the
track, carrying the train with it.
Four cars were turned on their
„ sides and the engine turned com
' pletely over.
As soon as the wreck occurred
! the passenger train that comes
’ to Gordon from Porterdale came
1 to the scene of the wreck and
carried the passengers to Ma
-1 con. Two wreckers and a large
crew of men were rushed out
from Macon. Master Mechanic
Fetner, of the Central of Geor
: gia shops, was in charge of the
crew. The wreckage was clear
ed away enough so that trains
could go by about five o’clock
Tuesday morning.

neglected it for a day or two, then it

ever saw. I have used all kinds of
soap for washing my face, and always ।
it would leave my face smarting. I
had to keep a lotion to stop the smart

a soap that will clean my face and
