The Hon. J. W. Lindsey, our
fellow townsman, has announc
ed his candidacy for the office of
Commissioner of Pensions, sub
ject to the State Democratic
Primary called for August 21st.
His claim to the support of the
State is based upon his record
made in the faithful and efficient
discharge of the complex duties
of this office during his passed
terms.
He was a private Confederate
soldier, serving in Co. 1, of the
famous Third regiment of Ga.
Volunteer infantry. He bears
scars from wounds of disability,
received in the battle front fol
lowing the great Lee. He is loy
al to every interest of the Con
federate soldiers and their wid
ows, while he safeguards the
interests of the State. He is a
good sitizen, an able lawyer and
honest and successful business
man, and a sober Christian gen
tleman, proving himself worthy
competent and efficient in the
discharge of every duty to
which he has been called as a
soldier, citizen and officer. As
his neighbor, we commend him
to the voters of the State for all
that is in manhood and honest
integrity of citizenship stand
for; assuring them that the sol
id support of the voters of his
native county is behind him.

’ Judge Hawkins
Denies Chaage
The Bulletin,
Irwinton, Ga.
I understand it is being
t charged that I a mattempting

i In justice\to all parties inter

disprove it, I will state that, in
, a spirit of fairness to all can

and requested an amendment,
t providing that the bill transfer
: ring Toombs do not take effect
r until after the August primary.
I am entirely willing to risk my
’ chances of succeeding myself
as Judge of the Dublin circuit,
t with the voters of Laurens,
1 Johnson, Wilkinson and Twiggs,
- being thoroughly convinced, and
> serenely confident that I will
i receive a substantial majority
t of the votes cast in each of these
counties.
’ However, lam ready to wel
come Toombs into the Dublin
Circuit whenever Tier people de
sire to come, notwithstanding
the fact that its coming wll add
more work without compensa
tion for the Judge.
Yours very truly,
J K. J. HAWKINS.
